To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTURO subject of the. King of Italy, residing at 11 Piazza Gastello, in the city of Milan, Italy, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Firearms, of which the following is a specification.
According to the present invention the release of the striker which is projected forward to cause the firing of the cartridge, is made to depend on the breech block closing levers. In the annexed drawing two arrangements are diagrammatically shown for realizing the said object.
Fig. 1 shows the arrangement as seen from above, with the breech block closing levers in their open position, and the striker in firing position.
Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line 2 Fig. 1, but with the parts shown in closed position.

In order to make the release of the striker M depend on the breech block closing levers B these levers are extended rearwardly past their pivots P and their ends are fitted with the segments A (Fig. 1) which, when the levers are brought into closed position, form a complete are A (Fig. 2) whereas in open position a gap is left between the two segments as may be seen in Fig. 1.
The striking mass M is provided with a spring pressed tooth D which during the recoil stroke can be depressed and pass under the are A. As immediately thereupon the tooth D is forced up again, the striking mass M is held back by the are A and cannot move forward and reach the position shown in Fig. 1 to cause the firing of the cartridge unless the are A be opened (Fig. 1), that is to say unless the forward ends of the levers B be closed.

It will be seen that the action of tooth 0 corresponds to the action of are A on the striking mass as striking mass M is .restrained from movement by the teeth 0 as long as the levers B are in open position. When the rear ends of the levers B are brought into open position, the mass M is forced forward by the spring N so that it reaches the position M and fires the cartridge.
IVith these arrangements it is secured that no firing can take place except when the breech block is closed; the rearward move.- ment of the tube Z being efi'ected, through the medium of the levers G, by the turning.

The levers B are kept with .their rear ends closed during the whole of the backward stroke by a fork -F- secured to the breech block, this fork sliding along with' the block and bearing against the side suri aces of the closing levers.
In both cases the forward ends of levers B are opened by the two levers -G pivoting about the pins P.
When the tube Z is suitably pushed for- I ward against the projections or teeth K they cause the levers G to rotate about their pivots P and the forward ends of levers B to open and the segments A to form a complete are A or the tooth O to project into the path of the striker.
Having now particularly described-and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
1. In automatic fire arms, means for preventing the firing pin from operating until the breech block is closed, comprising a firing mass, a sliding gas actuated tube, closing levers for the breech block, actuating levers for said closing levers directily operated by the sliding tube, and means controlled by the closing levers for holding the past their fulcrum to form locking rear portions, a spring pressed tooth fitted on thefiring mass and cooperating with said rear portion to prevent the firing mass from a forward motion when the fore portions of the levers are opened, actuating levers for said closing levers directly operated by the said sliding tube to close and open said levers, and a fork secured to and sliding along with the breech block cooperating with said closing levers to permit of same being closed only at the end of the forward stroke. v
