RAYMOND S. LOWER, OF GENESEO, ILLINOS.
'EGG BEATER.
Matinee.
Application led November 9, i921.
To all whom t 72mg/ concern.'
Be it known that ll, ltArMoNn S. Lownn, a citizen of the United States, residing' at Geneseo, in the county of Henry and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Bea er, of which the following' is a specification.
This invention relates to beaters, and aims to provide novel means for operating' the beating' arm to facilitate the egg beating operation.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device v.of this character which will lgive a combined vertical and reciprocatory movement to the beater head, by a single operation of the operating' handle.
lilith the foregoing and other objects 1n view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, .it being); understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from. the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of an beater constructed in accordance with theI present invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the same.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 11 is a sectional view on line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is an enlarged detail view disclosing' the operating' disk in section to illustrate the connection between the disk and operating); arm.
Referring; to the drawing' in detail, the reference character 5 designates the base or support of the beater, which has an upwardly extending supporting bar 6 secured adjacent to one end thereof. Y
Secured to the base, at a point intermediate its ends, is a bracket member 7 which has pivotal connection with the base 5 as through the pivot pin 8, as clearly shown by Figure 3 ofY the drawing, and which entends upwardly in the bracket member 7. rlhe upper end of the bracket member 7 is cut away to provide opposed arms 9 between which the operating arm 10 is pivotally supported,
Specification of Letters Patent.

there being' provided a pin 11 as connecting' the arms 9 and 10 to permit the arm l() to rock on the bracket.
Mounted on the supporting bar 6 is a gear wheel 12 which is operated by means of the handle` 13 and which is in mesh with the pin'ionlllmounted above the gear wheel l2. This pinion 1e is secured to the shaft 15 that extends through the supporting` bar 6 whereby rotary movement of the pinion 14 is imparted to the shaft, which in turn imparts rotary movement to the operating disk 16 keyed, or otherwise secured to the shaft 15.
Formed in the operating disk 16 is an elongated opening 17 which is disposed eecentrically thereof and is designed to accommodate bolt 21 which is formed with a head 22 and a threaded extremity 23. The threaded extremity 23 is positioned in a threaded opening in the head 24C which is formed with a socket to accommodate the ball 25 formed integral with one end of the rod 18, which rod moves in a bore formed in one end of the operating' arm 10 as clearly shown by Figure 1 of the drawing. From the foregoing it will be seen that due to this construction, the bolt may be moved to various positions, within the slot 17 to change the point of connection between the rod 18 and disk 16, to vary the stroke of the operating arm 10 and adopt the same for use in connection with containers of various sizes. The beater head is indicated at 19 and includes an arm 20 curved and connected to the arm 10, as at 21.
ln the use of the device, a bowl or similar container as shown in dotted lines is positioned under the beating' head 19 and the material to be beaten, 'is placed therein. rlhe handle 13 is now operated to cause the operation of the arm 10 as described, whereupon the beating' operation is accomplished with facility.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a device of the character described, a base, a supporting bar on the base, gears carried by the supporting bar, an arm having a bore formed in one end thereof and pivotally supported above the base, a disk supported at one end of the base and having an elongated opening formed eccentrically thereof, a bolt extending through the opening, a head formed with a socket carried by the bolt and adapted to be seouredwthmy own, I have hereto axed my signature m the elongated openmg 1n Venous posltlons 1n the presence of two Wltnesses. o adjustment, a rod hat-vlug a head poeltoned in the Socket, said rod adapted to RAXMOND o' LOXER' 5 move in the bote of the rst mentioned rod, VVitles'ses': 1
and gearing 'for rotating the disk. W. BEHERD,
In testimony that I claim the foregoing als y EVA M. HUMPHREY.
