Description
A. G. WALSH.
LE ELASTIC SHOULDER UNDERWEAR SUPPORTER.
ADJUSTAB APPLICATION FILED NOV-7.1921.
Patefited Aug. 1, 1922,
ALABAMA Gr. WALSH, OF MOBILE, ALABAMA.
ADJUSTABLE ELASTIC SHOULDER UNDERWEAR SUPPORTER.
TAM-329.
Application filed November 7, 1921.
To all whom may concern:
Be it known that I, ALABAMA G. lVALsH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mobile, in the county of Mobile and State of Alabama, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Elastic Shoulder Underwear Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to adjustable elastic shoulder underwear supporters designed for holding ladies undergarments such as camisoles, teddies, and bust-confin- These garments are generally heldby tapes or ribbons which have been found to be very unsatisfactory and uncomfortable, often slipping off the shoulders and down onto the arms which, aside from being uncomfortable, present an unsightly appearance, as such are readily seen through the thin waists or garments now worn by ladles.
The present invention has for its objects among others to provide a simple and cheap, yet eflicient and reliable means for at all times holding the undergarments in their proper position, being adjustable, and having provisions for attachment to either a camisole or a teddy or bust-confiner.
, I provide a ribbon or analogous strip to cover the elastic so that the same is entirely hidden from view when in use, and this strip of ribbon or silk or whatever may be emloyed is of an inelastic nature so that it is ept taut during use, and also serves the additional function of limiting the stretch of the elastic member.-
Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which, with the numerals of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the improved device as in use.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the device.
Figure 3 is an edge View. 7
Like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the different views.
My improvement comprises an elastic member 1 to each end of which is afiixed an elastic member 2, each member 2 being provided with two separable fasteners 3 and 4, which may be of any well-known type but preferably of the form seen best in Figure Specification of Letters Patent.

2. being of the general character employed for stocking supporters.
The ends of the elastic member 1 are secured by suitable buckles or clamps 5 attached to the strips 2, or in any other suitable way, while 6 is a non-elastic member, of silk or ribbon or any other suitable material of any desired color, preferably somewhat wider than the elastic strips 1 and 2, as seen in Figures 1 and 2, so as to entirely conceal the elastic members, and the ends of this inelastic member 6 may be secured in any suitable manner as by means of the clamps 5 employed to hold the ends of the elastic strip 1, or an suitable form of slide or other means whereiiy the same may be readily adjusted as may also the elastic strip 1.
The mode of use is clearly illustrated in Figure 1 where it is shown as applied to a camisole 7 in which instance the upper fasteners 3 are employed. When used in connection with teddies or a bust-confiner, the hooks or fastening members 4 are employed. As will be readily understood upon reference to Figure 1, my improved adjustable elastic shoulder underwear supporter serves at all times to keep the undergarment in proper position and the shoulder straps maintain their proper realitve position over the shoulders of the wearer and in use do not drop down as do tapes or the like such as are usually employed.
The ribbon or other covering member 6 at all times conceals the elastic member 1 as well as the elastic members 2 and the fastening means, the ends of the member 6 being of sufficient length to overlie the fastening means, the ends of the said member 6 being shown in the position illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 merely for the purpose of disclosing the short elastic members 2 and the fastenings 3 and 4. In addition to its function as a means of covering or concealing from view the elastic members and the fastenin the member 6 will serve also to limit t e stretch of the elastic member and thus aid in holding the shoulder straps in position upon the wearer.
Modifications in detail may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
The inelastic member may be readily adjusted without disturbing the adjustment of the elastic member, and it can also be readily removed and another of different color or character substituted therefor .at any time all wear supporter comprising an elastic member, fastening means at each end thereof, means securing the said elastic member ad justable as to length, and an inelastic member superim osed upon the elastic member, with means or clamping said inelastic member adjacent its ends to said elastic member whereb the inelastic member may be adjusted independently of the elastic member and removable therefrom without disconnecting the fasteners from the garment.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
ALABAMA G. WALSH.
