DISPLLY STAND.
hardere.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Juin@ 137 1922 Application filed March S, 1922. Serial No. 541,346.
lie it lrnoivn that l. (lemen "7 a citizen' ot the United `'ltati-s. is., ding' et lllatertoivn, in the coi'inty oit Jefferson and State ol1 New 'Yoriny have invented certain new and useiul lniprovenients in Display titanids(N oi? which the Afollowing is a specifica-4 tion.
rlhis invention relates to improvements in displaj.r stands, and has ior its object to pro-- vide a novel and simple device oit the class adapted Ytor mounting` on the plate-glass counter c-'tielvcs oi.E meat shops, for supportH ing and displaying' various cuts of' meat and other articles. fr particular object is to pro vide display stands which may be permanently mounted at intervals in the length ot the glass counter shelves, which are arranged to support detachable trays in which the meats are disposed, the latter' also servingto prevent any drippings of blood or grease from falling upon and fouling the plateglass shelves. And a further object is to provide a display stand or novel, simple and ornamental construction, which is strong and durable, and Which may be so disposed on the shelves as not to interfere with the usual trading nor obstruct the vievv of goods disposed behind and beneath the Lglass shelves.
l attain these objects by the means set forth in the detailed description which titolloivs, and illustrated by the acconipanyinpv drawingj in Which- Figure l is a broken side elevation ot a glass counter7 to which a number o'lz iny disl play stands are applied.
Fig'. 2 is an enlarged `liront side elevation or". the complete stand.
Fig. 3 is an end elevation of the saine.
Fig'. il is a topplan view of the standythe stand being' shown in dotted lines.
ln the drawing, 2 represents the usual wooden base ot a meat-shop counter. 3 is the upright transparent portion of the counter, upon which is mounted horizontally the plate-glass shell l, both of said glass parts being,` secured. in place by brackets 5. The shelle 4l.- is usually held in place on the horizontal arm (not shown) ol' the brackets 57 by' ineans oi' a inetal strip (L `which overlaps the adjacent ends et the sections oit the shell', and are rigidly secured to the bracket by bolts 7.
My display stand consists ot metal, preterably, and includes a main upright standard 8, the top and bottom ends of Which are bent at right angles to provide corresponding arms 8 and 8H, the latter resting); npcn and being rigidly secured to the strip 6 by the bolt 'i'. fl represents a similar but shorter standard, `which piu'allels the standard 8, its upper end being` bent outwardly to 'lorin a horizontal arni 9, which is disposed in the same plane as the arm 8. The lower end el the standard` 9 provided with an annular toot 9a, which rests upon an angular' brace l0, to which it is secured by a rivet 7". The upper end oit the brace l() is formed into a loot 1.0, which engages the standard 8 and is secured thereto by a rivet 7b, While the lower end ot the bracci() is provided. with a horizontal toot 10a, Which is secured to the strip G by one ot' the bolts 7. lly construct ing and arranging the several standards and brace l0, as herein sho\vn. relatively light strap metal may be employed for making the said parts, which Will support heavy loads Without danger oi' buckling-or vibrating. 11 and ll indicate similar bars Which are dis posed longitudinally across the corresponding arm 8 and 9 ot the standards, to which they are secured by bolts or rivets 7d, the said bars projecting an equal distance beyond the opposite edges of said arms. 13 and 13' are similar metal strips, which are mounted transversely upon and are secured to the corresponding ends of the bars ll-ll by bolts 7e. The opposite ends of the strips 12B- 13' are bent upwardly to form similar alinine` .lugs 13a, which are employed for retaining' a tray or pan l5., the latter beineV preferably loosely and detaehably mounted on said strips. The tray 15 is preferably made ol' metal and. is employed 'for supportine; various portions or cuts of meats or other articles to be displayed. The trays have a sui'licient depth to safely retain the ineats, and also to collect and hold any drippings from the meats7 which might other- `vvise reach and foul the plate-glass'shelves il. lly providing' the display stands herein shown and described. the various goods may be conveniently displayed to the customers, who may inspect them Without handling, and without soiling' the plate Lglass shelves. My improved stands are so positioned on the shelves that they do not interfere vvith the usual trading' operations7 and they do not obstruct the view of the goods behind or beneath the transparent portions of the coun* ters. The plate glass shelves referred to are usually made up or several sections each three or four feet in length, and in, practice niy stands are disposed at frequent intervals in the length of the counters, as shown in Fig. 1.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters "Patent, is-
l. In a display stand, parallel standards of unequal. length, an angular brace supporting one of the standards and rigidly secured to the other standard, parallel bars sup-` ported by said standards, and parallel strips inounted on said bars, said strips having their opposite ends bent upwardly to retain a tray.
2. ln a display stand, the combination with a tray, of a pair oit standards disposed parallel to each other, the upper ends of said standards having,` similar arms disposed in a connnon plane, a brace supporting one of said standards and tied to the other standard, strips having their opposite ends formed into upwardly proj ecting` lugs to receive and support the tray7 and a pair`of spaced bars interposed between said arrns and said strips and rigidly secured to both of the said parts.
In a display stand, the combination with a tray, of a pair of spaced strips for supporting` said tray, the opposite ends of said strips provided with up-turned lugs which engage the lateral edges ot said tray, horizontal bars secured to the corresponding` ends oit said strips, a pair of standards ot different lengths, each standard having an arm which is secured to one of said bars, and a brace secured to the middle of one standard and supporting the other standard.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
