it known that I, SATISH CHANDRA (inosn, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Incense Burners, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in incense burners, and has for its object the provision of an improved construction of this character which is of simple construction and efiicient in use. I

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention consists in the combinw tions and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best imderstood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,

The preferred form of construction. as illustrated in the drawings, comprises a flat metallic base plate 3 in the form of a leaf and having a loop 4 struck upwardly from one side thereof. A supporting stem 5 has its lower end secured under said loop, said s being curved upwardly and'inwardly there from and provided with a burner socket at its upper end. 7 This socket consists of a base 5' in the form of a disc secured to the upper end of the stem 5, and having plates 6 extending upwardly and outwz rdly therefrom to form recesses 7 between said pl ...id plates 6 being substantially in the rorni of the petals of a flower, indicated.

By this arrangement, a simple and effective device for the purpose is provided which is capable of economical manufacture. The recesses 7 formed in the sides of the burner admit air to the interior thereof which facil itates the burning of the incense and the resulting smoke rising centrally therefrom Specification ofLetters Patent.

lVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into efifect, this is capable (if variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. 1 therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1.. In an incense burning stand having a flat base; a loop at one sideof said h: se; a stem having a curved end adapted to be inserted in said loop to hold same in upright position, said stem having an inward and upward curve to position the upper end of said stein over the center of said base to prevent tilting thereof; and a receptacle on the end of said stein for supportii'ig lnuning incense, substantially as described.
