This invention is a safety-firstsignal to be carried by a trolley car. railroad car, or the like, and adaptedto be operated by the rear door or'other moving part.

A safety signal of the character described, comprising in combination with a car and a car door, a warning signal, a shaft slidably mounted on the car door, a cylinder mounted on a relatively stationary part of the car, a piston and a spring pressed rod in said cylinder, the outer end of said piston rod being in proximity to and adapted to be actuated by said shaft, connections between the piston rod and the warning signal whereby the Warning signal is actuated by movement of the piston, and an adjustable valve for regulating the compression in the cylinder to control the period of actuation of said warning signal. 11. The combination of a safety sign, a vmrningsignal in connection therewith, a car door, a bracket mounted on the said car door, a shaft borne by the said bracket, a plate and a spring carried by the said shaft, another bracket supported from the car roof, a cylinder supported bythe said bracket, a piston within the said cylinder, a piston rod,
a plate borne by the said rod a spring located between the said plate and the said cylinder, the said cylinder containing an adjustable valve, the said second mentioned plate being adapted to be actuated by, the said first mentioned plate and means connected with the said second mentioned plate adapted to actuatethe said warning signal.
