SAW CLAMP.
Application filed October 28, 1919.
To all 201' am it may comic mt Be it known that Jacon Rnrrinrr. a citizen oi the United States of America. residing at Bethlehem, in the county of Lehigh and State of Pennsylvania, has in vented new and useful Improvements in Saw Clamps, ol which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive saw holding clamp i'or sup 'ior 'cinn a saw blade in proper position for filing or setting and designed to be readily supported upon a bench or suitable convenient object, and to this end the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts hereinafter described, it being understood that changes in form and proportion may be resorted to within the scope of the claims without departing from' i the prlnciples involved.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of clamp.
Figure 2 is a detail View of the mounting by which the adjustable arms are connected.
Figure 3 is a sectional view of said mount ing.
The blade-engaginn heads 10 and ll are disposed and held in parallelism by arms 12 and 13 to which the bars constituting the heads are pivotally connected as at it so as to adapt them to assume any angular position which may be convenient to the opera tor, and said arms are pivotally connected at an intermediate point by a moiuitinge 15 and are adapted to be angularly moved to dispose the heads in clamping relation with an interposed saw blade by means of an adjusting screw 16 preferably ha ring a thumb piece 17 or the equivalent thereof. The connection between the headsupporting arms preferably consists of a bracket 18 sethe cured for exam ale to the arm 12 and havin Specification of Letters Patent.

extensions 19 between which the arm 13 opcrates, and a plate 20 secured to the arm 13 and having a knuckle 21 through which exengagred with the extensions 19.
Also the head 10 is preferably provided with terminal hooks 23 for engagement with a bench or other means of supporting the tool. I
It will be obvious that upon disposing the blade of a saw between the facing surfaces of the head elements 1.0 and ll and moving the same to any convenient angular relation with the arms by which they are supported, the adjusting means may be operated to clamp the blade in place, and that any subsequent adjustment of the head elements to suit the convenience of the operator in the course of filing the saw teeth may he eit- :tected withoutdetracting from the cfiiciency oi the engagement of the head elements of which the outer edges may be disposed close to the line of the saw teeth.
What is claimed is:
A device for the purpose indicated comprising a pair of blade engaging sleeves provided with depending arms, and means for pivotally connecting the arms, the said means comprising a bracket secured to one of the arms and having parallei spaced extensions which one eud overlap the edges of the arm to which the bracket is attached and extend into overlapping relation with the corresponding edges of the other arm, a plate secured to the inner face of the said other arm and provided with a transversely disposed knuckle, and a pivot bolt extend ing through the knuckle and through the said extensions.
In testimony whereof ho aliixes his signature.
JACOB RUPPERT.
