To L ZZ whom "it may concern .Capra Y I Y l. i The guiding means formingthe object of my present invention comprises a group -Be iti known that 'IjJUiinsLu'Is LEMOINE, citizen of the Republic of France,'jresiding at `Paris, France, have invented ycertain new and useful Improveme'nts`inv Smooth-Belt Elevators, (forwhich I have'filed application'in France 8, 1920,) of which the following is a specification, reference beingV had therein to the accompanying drawing.
Angular conveyors comprising Ytwo 'smooth vbelts so arranged that the' edge ofl one of these belts bears against the face' of the other so as-to form a sort Vof chute are well known.
The mam di'liiculty occuring inthe industrial use of these conveyorszresides iny this that the edge of one of the belts always tends to glide on theI face of the, supporting belt and to slide off therefromrunder the weight of the material conveyed.
Therefore, Vit 's necessary to provide af perfect guide for the belts so asl to avoid their gliding on the lateral surface ofthe sliding drimisand to prevent the belts from opening under the actionLof the goods conveyed thereby letting a portionthereof es' of two? angle irons, theedges of which 30m and two branches of which serve as support for the lower borders of vthe ascending sides, one of these sides bearing with Vits lower border on the upper face of the other side.
yThis group of two angle irons is combined withtwo other angleirons supporting* the upper borders of the two ascendingsides and further with rollers laterally guiding lthe descending sides of the belts before they engage the', guide pulleys, Y according to my in- Various embodiments vention are shown `by way of example, lin the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a front view of an angular conveyor of f two smooth belts provided with a guiding arrangementrin accordance lwith my invention. Fig. 2 is a side-view of Fig. 1. Figs. 3 and 4 are sectional views ofthe conveyor along lines 3 3 and 4-4 respectively.
The apparatus comprises two pulleys al al, of equal diameter, of whichfthe spindles in the same plane, are mountedon the same frame; these spindles make mutually a @Mpse-#ELT stairwelli f of Mar. 15,1919, and in Eng land April 17, 1919, and inGrermany lunemotor i Smooth rendless bel-ts "spectively the pulleys a Z) andthe pulleys a1 b1. The belt la is so situated that its'lower @ages of these pulley-vaart angehen; 'lTwofotlier' pulley 'Zfbi "are mou te same" mannen-bmbfwhilst these'. tw; maltose-bnf their spindles; the puey'sia and given angle (9 0 for example), i i
al are rotated in opposite directions by means of a train of gearing c 0130i d1(Fig." `i 3) the bevel wheels'cland d1 are lkeyed oni-ff v the same shaft e andare themselves rotated i, l

Moreover, throughout allt eir operative path, these beltsv are guided.A by angl-e irons y'- jl h kton which they slide. I
When thegl elevator has a vconsiderable 85. y7c and "jl cll can Vsupport the "ff length, rollers such as Zl included between the angle irons y' belts. l A frame o ofbar iron lmounted on the" girders4 g g1 supports at intervals the longitudinal angle iron system y' 7'1 c 7c?? and sup? porting rollers suchask Fig. et showsthis detail of construction as well as the ltwovrollers @7111 which gjiidethe f belts at their introduction on' tothe-lower pulleys b b1. The supports-for thesel guide rollers are secured on rone ofthe -crossties which space apart the two girdersgV glp. The `pulleys a and a1 of equal diameter be.-
'ing rotated in the y.direction indicated by the` 10o arrows m m1, it Afollows that the two belts will move at the same speed inthe direction vof thearows a and m1,'making contact along the entire lengthof theirangularly meeting borders. v j i Moreover, the angle-irons k, '.'V prevent the lot- belts h:,hfrom gliding one relativetothe other and support these beltsy 'continously along the entire length of their Aascending sides.v LThe belts therefore cannot open under the actionof the goods conveyed thereby letting a portion thereof escape'.l Y
c stop short before the Vpulleys a, a" Y and b, b all excessive friction ofthe edges of the belts against the Yends'm? thej angle irons As the angle irons la,
is avoided. Finally,'the guiding andthe supporting of therbelts is completed by the angle irons j,
jand the rollers z', i', which support,V the Lbelts laterally thereby vinsuring their proper engagement with the pulleys In *a vconveyor` comprising ,tWoj smooth i Y belts forming ian angle between Vthem, and
