Specification of Letters Patent. 1 Patented Jan, 3, 1922,
Application filed July 27, 1921. Serial No. 487,928.
' Sacramento, in the county of Sacramento and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements, in Beating Devices, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to a stirring device, and particularly pertains to a heater for use in connection with soda fountain mixers.
It is a principal object of the present 1nvention to provide a simple attachment which may be instantly applied to the beater of a soda fountain mixer and by which malted milk, milk shakes and other drinks may be rapidly beaten" and caused to have-a frothy appearance. 4
The present invention contemplates the use of a metal member having a body portion adapted to encompass the beater of the usual motor-driven soda fountain mixer, and which member is formed with outwardly extending tan s adapted to thoroughly agitate the liquid within which it is submerged.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a view in side elevation showlng the application of the present invention and indicating the invention in section;
Fi 2 is an enlarged view in perspective showing the device with which the present invention is concerned;
Fig. 3 is a view in plan showing the formation of theblank from which the present invention is made.
' Referring more particularly to the drawings, 10 indicates a motor adapted to drive a vertical shaft 11. Mounted at the lower end of this shaft is a stirring device 12. This member may be circular or polygonal, and in either event it is intended that a beater 13 shall be detachably secured thereover. At the presenttime the members 12 bring about their action due to their high speed of rotation and the centrifugal motion set up in the liquid." The present invention contemplates the provision of agitating members which will tend to stir and beat the liquid in a more thorough manner than is now accomplished.
This beater is formed with a substantially circular central plate 14 which, in the present instance, is shown as hexagonal.
the blank is formed, as indicated in Fig. 3
This plate is concaved to correspond with the usual convexed bottom of the stirring member 12. Formed as continuations of the facets of the body plate are upwardly extending portions 15 which are provided to .embrace the sides of the stirrer 12, and
which members are bent outwardly to lie in a plane substantially parallel to the central plate 14 where they form fingers 16. The formation of this blank whereby the fingers are produced is more clearly shown in Fig. 3, where it will be seen that the side portions 15 and the fingers 16 adually taper from the central plate 14, t us in a simple manner forming a cup into which the stirrer 12 may be positioned and around the edges of which cup outwardly extending fingers occur. Protrusions 17 are formed in the side portions 15 and tend to slip around and over the edges of the stirrer 12 to frictionally hold the beater in position, as shown in Fig. 1.
In the operation of the present invention and is thereafter bent along the score marks A and B to form the side portions 15 and the outwardly extending fingers 16. The member thus shaped may be fitted over a stirrer 12 of conventional design, and when thus applied may be used to stir any liquid desired. It vwill be evident that the protruding fingers will produce a more satisfactory mixture of liquid, and at the same time will beat air into it to cause it to have a frothy appearance.
When the device is to be readily removed from stantly re laced.
While have shown the preferred form of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes -may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from be washed it may the stirrer and inthe spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a motor, a rotatable stirring rod, having a plunger at the end thereof, an agitator having a central cup shaped portion adapted to clasp the plunger and radial fingers extending from the cup shaped portion.
2. "An attachment for a beverage agitating device, comprising a cup shaped central base having upwardly extending elastic surrounding members to removably clasp the .lower end of a rotatable stirring rod, said members being bent at the top to .form horizontal outwardly extending radial fingers, convergent toward the ends.
tions extending up and around the circumferential edge of the stirring element; the said side portions terminating in fingers bent so as to extend radially.
5. A device of the character described in combination with a motor and a stirring rod having a stirring element secured at the end thereof, of a member comprising a cen tral cup having a body portion conformin to the bottom of the stirring element an having side portions adapted to extend up and around the circumferential edge of the stirring element and clasp the same, the said side portions terminating in tapering fingers bent laterally so-as to extend radially to provide agitating members.
