To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN K. KorcHUK, a citizen of Ukraine, residing at Melville, in the Province of Saskatchewan and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Grain-Doors,
`of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in grain doors.
The primary object of the present invention resides in the provision of a door especially designed for grain car bins or the like wherein the door is formed of a plurality of sliding shutter sections and moving from opposite sides of a door opening toward the center thereof to provide a complete closure for the opening.
A further object of the invention is to provide a grain door formed of a plurality of shutter sections slidably associated with each other and divided on a horizontal line to provide independently operable upper and lower sections. i
A still further object of the invention includes the provision of locking arms associated with the shutter door sections to prevent the sections from being opened when the locking arms are in their operative p0- sitions. j
With the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a door and frame therefor constructed in accordance with the present invention, one of the upper door sections being moved to its open position,
Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line II-II of Fig. 1 showing the sliding door panels moved to their closed position relative to the door opening with the locking arms in their positions,

Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawings, and particularly to Figs. 1 and 2 there is illustrated a frame structure 1 representing a car side silo wall or binz having a door opening therein defining a sill 2 and an upper rail 3 with the side walls thereof constructed in channel formaprovide vertical side pockets 4 having entrance openings 5 thereof.
The door construction embodies a plurality of panels slidably mounted upon each other as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 for housing within the pockets 4 when the same are moved to their open position, the panels being divided upon a horizontal line to provide lower sections 7 and upper sections 8, two of the upper panel sections 8 being shown in detail in Figs. 5 and 6, the lower and upper panels 7 and 8 having recesses 9 formed in one face thereof and covered by plates 10 that are slotted as at 11 for purposes presently to appear. The outer faces of the panels 7 and 8 are provided with the recesses 9 and slotted plates 10 and the panels are assembled in sliding relation similar to a camera shutter, the rear face of one panel slidably engaging the front face of the adjacent panel while headed pins 12 as shown in Fig. 5 are carried by the rear face of each recesses 9 through the plate openings 11, thus locking the adjacent lower panels 7 and the adjacent upper panels 8 in sliding engagement with each other. The engagement between the upper and lower panels 8 and 7 includes the provision of a cutaway portion 13 upon the upper edge of each lower panel 7 and the provision of a depending plate 14 upon the lower end of each panel 8 with the plate riding in the cutaway portion 13 as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3. The upper and lower forward end panels 8 and 7 are fixed to the forward wall of the pocket 4 and the panels when in their extended position are arranged at an angle relative to the transverse axis of the door opening while the outwardly-extending panels .7 an

While there is herein shown and described .thepreferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope ot the invention-as claimed.

A grain dooi` of the type described comprising in combination with a door opening, a sectional door formed of panels slidably mounted upon each other, and means hingedly carried by the side walls of the door opening and adapted to be moved into the path of opening movement of the doors to Vhold the same in closed position, said means including pivoted arm sections adapted to be swung to a horizontal position and having outer inclined edges in the path of opening movement of the doors to hold the same in closed position.
