JOE HANDLE, OF COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI.
BELT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Jon B. RANDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Lowndes and State of Mississippi, have invented a new and useful Belt, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to garment supporters, andthe invention aims to improve generally and enhance the utility of the construction of the device as illustrated in Patent Number 966,093 and which bears date of August 2, 1910.
y A further object of the invention is to provide a garment support, in connection with a belt, the support being of the mutlple point suspension type, whereby the strain directed to the garment by the-support is f evenly distributed throughout the garment to eliminate sagging of the garment.
With the foregoing and other ob ects1n view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the comscribed and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a garment support constructed in accordance withthe present invention, and showing the same as secured to a belt.
Fig. 2 illustrates a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Referring to the drawing in detail, the body portion of the support includes a length of wire having a hook member formed intermediate its ends the hook member including a horizontal portion 5, the ends of which have connection with the vertical portions 6 as by means of the curved portions 7, the vertical portions 6 also having connection with the spaced arm .8
through the curved portions 9. The arms 8 are curved outwardly at the upper extremities thereof, the portions .of the arms adjacent to the portions 6 being supported in spaced relation with the por- Speeification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 6, 1921.
Application filed November 24, 1920. Serial No. 426,230.
tions 6 to accommodate a belt or the like, which in the present showing is indicated by the reference character 10, and which belt in operation encircles the body of the user above the hips.
Formed at the upper extremities of the arms 8, are the curved portions 11 which are designed to accommodate the threads, or shanks of buttons employed for securing the buttons to the garment, the formation of the curved portions 11 being such as to provide openings 12 to permit the curved portions to be slid or moved into position.
In the use of the device, it is to be understood that a plurality of these supporting devices are to be employed, the same being secured to a belt which is positioned above the hips of the wearer, the curved portions being connected with the buttons of the garments, to support the same.
It might be further stated however, that I an arm 13 formsa continuation of each arm at a point beyond the curved portion 11, so
that by pressing on the arm, the opening 12 may be expanded to permit the same to be positioned around the threads that secure a button, whereupon releasing the lever permits the walls of the opening toclose around the threads.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a garment supporter, a belt, a pair of divergent arms, means forming apart of each of the arms for embracing a portion of the belt, each of the arms having a curved poytion formed at the outer end thereof, said curved portions adapted to embrace a button securing means, said curved portions forming openings to permit the button securing means to pass into said curved portions, and an arm forming a part of each curved portion adapted to be operated to vary the size of the opening to permit'the same to be passed over the button securing means.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JOE R. RANDLE.
