PATENT OFFICE OF MILLPORT, OHIO.
IMPR'OVEMENT IN HORSE-POWERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139, 725, dated June 10, 1873; application filed April 12, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J osEPE MILBOURN, of Millport, in the county of Columbiana and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Horse-Powers, of Which the following is a specification:
The object of this invention is to improve and render more useful the horse-powers which are used for thrashing grain, and other purposes; and 1t consists in adjustable extensionlevers, in combination with the old or ordinary levers, and in stay-rods which connect the ends of the extension-levers, and in draft-rods attached to the stay-rods, the arrangement bein g as hereinafter described.
The drawing represents a plan view of a horse-power constructed according to my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the central cap to which the ordinary levers B are attached. O is the central shaft. D represents the extension-levers. E arc the outside stay-rods, and F the draft-rods. The extension-levers are attached to the ends of n the levers B by means of bands G G and a screw or bolt, H, and there are bolt-holes I through the levers B, by means of which the extension-le\ers may be adjusted dilerently, or so as to extend more or less from the old the ends ofthe extension-levers, which results in a great saving of power.
Having` thus describedA my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by `Letters Patenty 1. In combination with the levers B, the
extension-levers D, stay-rods E, and draft-rods F, arranged substantially as and for the purposes described.
2. The eye J, staple K, bands G G, and bolt H, in combination with the lever B, the eX- tension-lever D, and ydraft-rods F, as and for` the purposes described.
