citizen of the. United' States' residing at Camden, in thecounty of Camden and AState of'NeW Jersey, 'have invented ce'rtain` new and' useful Improvements in Ian Auxiliary ,Sparking-Unit for Spark-Plugs, of which the following is a specification.

'l l l the accompanying f In carrying the invention into effect it is intended to provide a'devicewhich is susceptible of embodimentin 'a form that may be readilyfitted to standard types of spark plugs,`in a simple and expeditious manner. The said hood 11 is interiorly threaded as at 12 to engage with the threads 7 of the cap G and is of relatively long` tubular formation to conceal and entirely7 house the porcelain insulator of the plug. washer :20 of suitable insulating material of leather or equivalent material is interposed between the lower end of the hood and the glandnut 3. Thus leakage of current is effectively prevented along the sides of the conductor to the body o'f the plug.
' In practice the auxiliary sparking unit isfitted to the spark plug by first placingv the washer 20 in position and then applying they cap 6 to the porcelain of the plug, After Athe cap is secured by nut 10 the hood may *be* telescoped over the cap 6 and porcelain i so as'to4 bringjthe terminal 17 of the hood in proper relation to the upper end 18 of the'conductor post 'I' The 'teimiiillil may be of course adjusted with reference to the terminal 18 toprovide aproper spark-gap, but for certain types of .plugsthe original setting of the terminal 1T will be suliicient since theterrninal will be originally set t0 meet the standard requirements of the particular type of plug.
When current is supplied to the binding nut l-l in the operation of the engine, it will of course havel to jump the spark gap formed between the terminals `17 and18` in the chamber Cj which isv in coinmuiiifcfation with the air, vandthe effect! offthe` spark formed between the ysaid terminals'fi's to supply a current which `l1asfleri stepped'up or transformed to a-greater 1potential or magnitude when it reaches the conductorl rod, 5, and the result, when the 'current makes its way from the end 6 of the rod directly to.v
