IMPROVEMENT IN GAME-TABLES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,425, dated May 27, 1873; application filed February 21, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SIEGFRIED S. Scnnvn- LER, of West Meriden, in the county of 'New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Game-Tables and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent in-- Figure 1, a perspective view of the table set at an angle, as for a music-stand, and for similar purposes; and in Fig. 2 a side view of a portion of the same.

This invention relates to the construction of a table for games, such as chess, checkers, backgammon, cards, &c., the object being not only to adapt the table to a variety of games, but to make it useful for other purposes. The invention consists in a pedestal having a rod adjustable vertically therein, and at the upper end'of the said rod a-cross-bar is attached, and upon each end a vertical post,

and between the two posts the table is pivoted so as to be reversed for either side up, or set in different angular positions, as more fully hereinafter described.

A is the base, from which rises the hollow pedestal B, and into this arod, O, is set, and so as to move freely up and down for adjustment of the height, it being set to any point of elevation by a set-screw, a. Upon the top of the rod 0 a cross-bar, D, is fixed, and upon each end of this cross-bar is a post, E, and bethrough the end of the post at one side of the pivot, and into one of the several perforations made in the edge of the table, as denoted in Fig. 3. A perforated metallic plate, G, is employed for this purpose, being fixed to the table.

In addition to a game-table this may, in

consequence of the adjustment described, be

used as a music-stand, setting the table at the desired angle, as denoted in broken lines, Fig. 2, or as a screen when set in a vertical position.

I claim as my invention- The herein described game-table, consisting of the base A, the hollow pedestal B, adjustable rod 0 carrying the frame D E E, and

with the table F pivoted in the said frame for adjustment to different positions, substantially as described.
