Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, LEO A. KELLY, a citi zen of the United States, residing at houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Printing-0ases, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a printing case, and has been specially designed for the purpose of containing a camera and other apparatus and appliances to be used in printing pictures.

One object of the invention is to provide a case of the character described which may be compactly folded together so as to be easily carried about by tourists and which is arranged to contain a camera and all necessary picture printing supplies and apparatus, and is so designed that it may be readily opened, and arranged in position to be used in the process of printing the pictures taken.

With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrange ment of parts and use, an'example of which is 7 given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein 1- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the case closed.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures, the numeral 1 refers to the bottom section of the case which is boX-like-in form, and the numeral 2 designates the cover thereforwhich is hinged thereto and is also of a box-like contour. This cover has four compartments of a form to receive the metallic pans 3, as shown in Fig. 3, one to contain water, one for a developing solution, one for a fixing bath and an extra pan for miscellaneous use. This cover is normally closed by means of a sectional lid 4 which is held in closed position by the ordinary h'ook'and eye arrangement 5. W henthe case is used for printing the cover 4 forms, in effect, supportlng leg therefor, as shown in Fig. 3. Th s cover has a deep oblong recess 6 in which there is an electrical socket 7 designed to receive the globe 8 which maybefolded down intothe recess 6, when the case'is'to be closed. The recess 6 should be lined with asbestos to protect the same from the heat of the light globe 8. This globe is used only when printing in a dark room andusually emits 'a weak red'light so as notto affect the paper. The socket 7 is connected to the electric wiring 9 which is arranged tobe attached to a suitable drop cord or other source of supply. WVithinone end of the section 1 there is hinged a suitable cabinet 10 provided with the drawers 11,.11, providedto contain printing paper, films and plates,and is also provided with suitable pigeon holes 12 designed. to contain developing solution, hypo, stirring rod, measuring glass, etc. This cabinet is closed by. the cover. 13 which is hinged to the bottom thereof and whosefree edge carries the hook 14: designed to engage Patented Aug. 9, 1921.

with the eye 15 to hold the cover closed. The 1 bottom section 1 of the case has a transverse partition 16 providing on one side thereofthe space 17 within which the cabinet fits when the case is closed. j IWhen thecabinet' 10 is raised into working position, the cover 13 is brought to a horizontal position with its 7 free edge resting upon the partition. 16,, thus forming, in effect, a working. table. In some cases the proportions will be such that the cover 13 will have to be made ii -sections, hinged together; asshown in Fig; 3, and in such case, the free edged section may be folded back to lie flat on the other section when the case is in position for use. On the other side of the partition 16 there" aretwo compartments separated by a partition 18, one compartment is provided to contain the camera 19 and the other compartment is equipped with red and white electric light globes 20 and 21 which are connected to the wiring 9 and the walls of this compartment are lined with asbestos so as not to be injured by the heat. Above these light globes there is a printing frame 22 provided with a removable cover 23. The film and printing paper are fastened in said printing frame in the usual way, the red light 20 being provided'for use by the photographer in the preliminary work of printing. The white light is then turned on, a push button 24 being provided for this purpose. The frame may be adjusted to the proper distance to the light by means of the usual folding supports 25, 25, of wellknown construction. When the picture has been printed it is then taken from the frame and subjected to the required solutions for developing and fixing the same, said solutions having been previously prepared in the pans 3.

When the work has been completed, the solutions are removed from their respective pans and the globe 8 folded down into the recess 6 and the electrical conductor 9 may be deposited in one of the pans 3 and the case then closed, thus forming a compact and convenient case for containing all of the e3sentials, apparatus and appliances for printing pictures. 7

l/Vhat I claim is 1. A case of the character described, in cluding a box-like section having a transverse partition, a cabinet hinged to the case and arranged to fit into the-compartment on one side of the partition, said cabinet being movable into vertical position, a cover for said cabinet hinged thereto and arranged to be opened and closed, and when in open position, resting on said partition and forming a table.

A case of the character described, including a box-like section having a transverse partition, a cabinet hinged to the case and arranged to fit into the compartment on one side of the partition, said cabinet being movable into Vertical position, a cover for said cabinet hinged thereto and a ranged to be opened and closed, and when in open position, resting on said partition and forming a table, a lengthwise partition on the other side of said transverse partition and extending therefrom' to the end of the case and forming two compartments, one for a camera and the other for a printing frame.

A case of the character described, including a boX-like section having a transverse partition, a cabinet hinged to the case movable into vertical position, a cover for said cabinet hinged thereto and arranged to be opened and closed, and when in open position, resting on said partition and forming a table, a lengthwise partition on the other side or said transverse partition and extending therefrom to the end of the case and forming two compartments, one for a camera and the other for a printing frame, and a cover hinged to said section.

A case of the character described, including a box-like bottom section having a transverse partition, a cabinet hinged to the case and arranged to fit into the compartment on one side of said partition, a lengthwise partition leading from the other side of said transverse partition to theend of the case and forming two compartmentaone of which is designed to receive a camera and a printing frame in the other of said compartments, a top section, box-like in form, hinged to and adapted to fit into said bottom section, a plurality of pans contained within said top section and a cover hinged thereto and adapted to inclose said pans therein. g

5. A case of the character described, including a bottom section, box-like in form and provided with a plurality of compart ments, a cabinet fitted into one of said compartments and hinged to the case and arranged to be lifted into vertical position, a cover hinged to the cabinet and when in open position forming a table, a top section hinged to the bottom section, a cover hinged thereto and adapted to form a support therefor when in open position.
