Description

B. SLOTE.
A BELT BIUCKLE ATTACHMENT. VAPPLICATION FILED DEC. l. 1920.

INVENTOR l ATTORNEY WITNESS UNITED sTATEs ifATENT OFFICE@ f.: innNJAivirN snornfonfnnw Yonkgiv.. nl
. 1p i A BELT-BUCKLE ATTHMENT.
To all @baum may concern; i
` `Be itiknown 4that I, lnivJi[11N'Snofin,v a citizen of theUnited States, residing at New York, iii the countyof `New York and Statef of New York, have invented new anduseful Improvements `in Belt-Buckle Attachments,
` of which the following is av specication.
` `This invention relates to belt buckles.
More particularly the invention relates to attachments forl the securement of the belt o to the buckle.
relation tothe buckle and without the neces sity of sewing or stitching; to combine with an ordinary belt buckle, an attachment in virtue of which one end of a belt may be held in securement with relation to the said buckle, and also permitting the ready adj ustment of the belt as to length. lith these and other objects in view the invention resides in the particular constructiony and relative arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompaiiying drawing, in which Y Figure l is a side elevation of the back of an ordinary belt buckle and showing the preferred form of the attachment of the present invention applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional View taken on the line 2-2, Fig. 17 but showing the Securement of one end of a belt.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to the view shown in Fig. 2, but showing' a modified form of attachment. Y i
Fig. 4- is a detached perspective view of another modified form of attachment.
Referring more particularly tothe drawings for the details of the present invention it will be manifest that, the belt buckle 10 to which the attachment 11 is applied, may be of any of the types in present use and on the market. The buckle 10 consists essentially of a frame 12 which denes sides 13--13 and ends lei-14, and a central part 15 to which 19-19. The parts `20---20 define a space 21v lwhichaccommodates the eye 22 of the tongue held in' securement with relation to the buckle. The attachment 11 is applied to the .l z Specification of Letters Patent.V Patelltd Jllll 21, 1921. iippification"fue@nebenbei?iglesia.` serial n0-427,55a.
esV
buckle 10 by the use of clips 24. In the seourement of the attachment 11 to the buckle 10 each of the clips 211: encircles the part 15 and part 20.` The endv portions 25 of the clips 241 are disposed in the same plane with the parts 19-19 thus providing an arrangement of parts for setting up impinging action between portions 26 and 27 of a loop 28 formed at one end of a `belt 29 as shown in Fig. 2.
From the foregoing it will be manifest that, one end ofa belt may be readily secured with relation to a buckle without requiring sewing or stitching of parts of a belt together and at the same time the length of the belt may be varied to be comfortably and effectively useful.
V.in the form of the attachment shown in Fig. 3, the central parts 30-30 are provided with flanges 31. The purpose of the flanges 3l is to allow the proper space beo tween the frame ofthe attachment and the frame of the buckle for the portions of the loop at the end of the belt to besecu'red, and
at the same lime allows the hereinbefore referred to portion of the clips 24 to be disposed as explained when a type of buckle'32 is used in'which the central tongue supporting part 33 is in the same plane with the sides 311 of the buckle'32.
ln the form of 'the attachment shown in Fig. et, the parts 555-155 thereof are pro vided with onev or more, preferably two projections 36 which engage sides of the buckle and prevent the attachment end'having the tongue which might cause the belt to bulge andpresent an unsightly appearance. This form of attachment is also provided with an apertured 'projection 37 for'the attachment of a strap connected to a loop which l`encircles the secured end of the belt and the free end thereof after the saine has been passed through the buckle,
What is claimed is 1. The combination with a buckle includsaid projections `from moving against the frame lizwing an intermediate portion,y the freineV being Wholly'concealed by the vbucklev and disposedl at the ref xrsde .of the latten, and eV bendable-tongue-bar-engaging imeans Y cov-acting With Y, saidY intermedia-te secure the freine to the buckle.
2.V A device of the character described comprising a buckle having a tongue berend a frame carriedA by the buckle'andlocated at the rear side thereof, .tongue Vbetr .engaging means on the frame, ends'paced AiXed' bars spacedreletively and `respectively Vlocated-Lt the opposite sidesofszud means, the said ineans and seid bars being relzttivelyinV dif-r ferent off set positions, the Yineens-1nd seidV bars adapted to colzict With Veech other ,l `for the retention ofthe folded end .ofa strap therewith. i Y
portion Vto o f ebelt tok a buckle comprising a substantisnlly reetangularlframe provided With Van intermediate portion, and bars disposed in spacedrelation at respectively opposite' 'Sides .oii'said intermediate portomsaid intermerdiete portion and' said bers vadapted to rece've' the Afolded'end of arfstrapand to hold said" end liX'edly Vfolded upon itself in` said frame, and means extending from said'rfrerne andy `Lidapted'fori connection ,with the4 tongue bzuo e buckle, said meensiservin'gto posi-V ingv a Vpivoted tongue carrying fbztrgof' a f In e belt buckle attichment of the de- 20 sign adapted, to cdetachably secure one end tion the frame' at therein".` side of the buclle,'
as und for the purpose specified.
Inftestiniony' whereof I Vhereby effi-XV' my signeture'.`
