UNHED STATES PATENT OFFICE. f'
MILTON H. WALLERSTEIN, for*v PADUOA'H, xnnrucxx.
DISPLAY-RACK. j'
" Be it known that I, `Mnfroiv` H. W A LLER- s'rniN, a citizen of the United States, reslding at Paducah in the county of McCracken and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display- Racks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame.
This invention relates to improvements in what are familiarly termed display racks, especially designed for displaying or exhibiting advantageously to view goods or varticles of merchandise, particularly' for salable purposes.
The invention has for its object to provide for more effectively or advantageously displaying articles of merchandise, as store goods etc., to the public for inducmg the purchase or sale thereof.
A further object of the invention is to provide for portability and facility in constructing and assembling .the parts thereof.
A still further object is to provide for carrying out the aforesaid aims in a simple, inexpensive, and effective manner which will be made apparent, together with the above recited statement of objects, from` the following description and accompanying illustration of the invention.
The invention therefore consists of certain instrumentalities and features of construction substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed and defined by the appended claim.
The drawing illustrates the preferred embodiment, or one form of my invention wherein it will be understood that various changes or modifications as relate to the detailed construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as covered by the claim.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a view inside elevation of my improved display rack, parts being broken away;
Fig. 2 is an end elevation thereof;
Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken through Fig. 1 on the line 3--3;
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken through Fig. 1 on the line 4.-4;
Fig. 5 is a sectional view of Fig. 1 taken on the line 5 5;
Fig. 6 is a partly plan view and partly Patented June '7, 192i.
Application filed January 9,-1920. serrano.' 359,349.
horizontal sectional view of Fig. 2, produced 4on theline 6-6,viewing downwardly.
As characteristic Vfeatures of my invention, I provide end or upright members 1, suitably secured to a base 2, and transverse or horizontal members 3 connected to said end-members as presently particularly disclosed, all of which are preferably of wood and contoured to conform to any suitable conguration.
The end members or uprightsy 1 are formed preferably in sections 1, as shown, and in any number, and the transverse or horizontal members 3 are received intermediately of the ends of said sections, the latter thus abutting the transverse members, said sections and'said horizontal members being doweled together, as clearly shown in a number of the views, the dowels 4 being received within sockets 5 bored longitudinally or axially into said sections and a bore or passage 6 extending through each member3, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the transverse or horizontal member being thus interposed at right angles to, and intermediate of the sections of the uprights or end-members. The points or joints of connection between the upright sections 1a andthe transverse members 3 are thus conjointly secured or bonded together, as it were, said end member sections being thus retained against inadvertent or lateral movement, and the transverse members lbeing similarly retained against like movements, as is readily appreciated.
Also at these points or joints the end member sections 1a and transverse members 3 are braced or strengthened by means of tubular T-shaped cuffs or castings, each casting or cuff adapted, as seen, to receiveand be fitted firmly upon said transverse or horizontal members .and upon said end-member sections, at their points of conjunction.
The transverse members 3 are eachV insertion into, or engagement With the oriices or sockets 9 into the transverse members 3, above referredto; 1 A
The rods or hangers, as is apparent, may be shifted from the right to the left or viceversr, as may be desired in displaying the goo s.
Having described my invention, what. I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: f 7
A deviceof the type described, including end and transverse members,thetransverse member being received between the endmembers, said end-members having bores in opposed'-v ends and said 'transverse member having an orifice in each end alining With Ythe bores of said end-members, doWels reeeived Within the bores of said end-members and passed through the orifices of 'said transverse member,andmeans adapted to receive said opposed ends of the end-members and the orificed end of said transverse member.
v In testimony whereof, I aixvvmysignature.
