PETER DYNOWSKY, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
COMBINATION SHAVING SET.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented F b 22 1921 Application filed September 15, 1920. Serial No. 410,386.
T all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, PETER DYNowsKY, a citizen of Poland, residing at Newark, county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Shaving Sets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combination implement, more especially to combination shaving set, and it is the principal object of my invention to provide a set that combines a shaving brush, a set of safety razors, an ordinary razor, a powder box, a soap receptacle, and a honing device in a compact and extremely serviceable manner.
A further object of the invention is the provision of removable safety razor appliances, a movable brush and a powder dispenser combined with the soap receptacle and the brush cover.
Further objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent as the description proceeds and will be pointed out more particularly in the appended claims.
With the above and other objects in view, the nature of which will be fully explained and illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a material part of this disclosure, in which Figure 1 is a front view of an implement constructed according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a side view thereof.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through the upper partof the implement and especially the brush casing.
Fig. 4 is a section on line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section through the lower casing.
6 is a section on line 6-6 of Fig. 5.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
The implement comprises an upper casing 10, and a lower casing 11 secured to the upper casing by means of plates 12 secured to the lower casing and engaging with pins 13 corresponding holes in the upper casing. At its upper end the upper casing is provided with a socket 14 for the reception of the hollow shaft 15 of an ordinary razor blade 16 which is removably held with its shaft in said socket.
At both of its sides the upper casing 10 is provided with guides 17 and 18 for thelower ends 01": the shafts 19 and 20' of holders 21 and 22 of the conventional Well known type for holding two safety razor blades 23 and 24, also of any well known type. The lower ends of the shafts 19 and 20 are provided with outwardly turned small flanges adapted to be engaged by the sockets 25 and 26 of handles or levers 27 and 28 which are secured to the guides 17 and 18 by cotter pins 29 and 30 passed through suitable holes in. ears 31 and 32 of the lower guide ends and through the sockets 25 and 26, so that an inward pressure on the levers 27 and 28 against the wall of the upper casing 10 will firmly engage the lower ends of the shafts 19 and 20 and hold the same in position. After removal of the cotter pins 29 and 30 the shafts and their holders 21 and 22 and knives can be conveniently removed from the casing.
Within the casing 10 a shaving brush 31 of the conventional type in socket 32' is guided for longitudinal movement by means of a ridge 33 on the inner wall of the casing which engages a groove 34 in the brush socket 32. A shoulder 35 near the lower end of the casing prevents a complete withdrawal of the brush from the casing 10.
The lower casing llis dividedby a partition wall 36 intoan upper chamber 3( and a lower chamber 38. The upper chamber 37 is intended for the reception of the lower end of the brush and a shaving stick or soap, and the walls are provided with a plurality of openings 39. The lower chamber 38 is intended for the reception of a powder which is to be dispensed through the bottom wall thereof provided for this purpose with a number of openings 40 adapted to be normally closed by means of a movable plate pivotally secured as at 41 in the center of the bottom and having an operating finger 42 extended through the bottom and having a limited play within an arouate slot 43 in the bottom so that the plate will close the openings 40 when the finger 42 engages one end of the slot 43 and gives said openings free for the dispensing of the powder when engaging the opposite end of said slot.
At its outer face the lower receptacle 11 is provided with a longitudinally extending guide 44 for the honestone 45.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Lot ters Patent of the United States is as followsl. A combination shaving set comprising an upper and a lower casing, two safety razors and an ordinary razor blade removably secured to said upper casing, a brush within said upper casing, means for removably connecting both casings, a knife honing means secured to the outer wall of the lower casing, an upper chamber in said lower casin for the reception of soap and a lower chamfiaer in said casing for the dispensing of powder.
2-. A combination shaving set comprising an upper and a lower casing, plates secured to the lower casing having pins engaging openings in the upper casing for removably connecting both casings, a socket at the upper end of said upper casing for the removable reception of the shaft of an ordinary razor, two guides at the outer side walls of the outer casing for the removable attachment of two safety razors, a brush movably held within said upper casing, a guide at the outer wall of the wall of the lower casing for guiding and holding a knife honing stone, said. lower casing having an upper and a lower chamber, the former for the reception of the lower end of said brush and soap, and the latter for the reception of a shaving powder, and means for dispensing said powder.
3. A combination shaving set of the character described comprising an upper and a lower casing. means for removably combining both casings, the upper casing adapted to hold an ordinary razor and two safety razors, a brush displaceably arranged within said upper casing, a partition wall within said lower casing forming two chambers,
an upper perforated chamber for the reception of the lower end of said brush and soap, and a lower chamber for the reception of a shaving powder, provided with a plurality of holes in its bottom, a plate pivotally secured to the bottom wall normally closing said openings, a finger on said plate extending through the bottom, and adapted to operate within a curved slot in the bottom for closing the opening by said plate when moved in said slot in one direction, and for uncovering said openings when moved in the opposite direction.
4. A combination shaving set of the character described, comprising two de tachably combined casings, an upper and a lower one, a socket on the upper casing for the reception of the shaft of an ordinary razor blade, a brush possessing limited movement, in longitudinal direction within said upper casing, two guides on opposite sides of the outer wall ofsaid upper casing, adapted to be engaged by the shafts of two safety razor blade holders, clamping levers removably attached to said guides for hold ing the shafts and holders removably to said upper casing, said lower casing partitioned to form two chambers, an upper chamber having perforated walls for the re ception of the lower end of said brush and a shaving stick, and a lower chamber for the reception of a shaving powder, means for dispensing said powder through the bottom of the lower chamber, and a guide longitudinally engaging the outer wall of said lower casing and adapted for the re ception of a knife honing stone.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature.
