1 Application filed July 31 folding type, which when folded will require a relativelysmall space to store the same, and. one whlch may be readily and easlly moved to its extended positlon. 1
A further object. of the invention is to provide a bed of this character having a novel form of bracing means to secure the bed in its extended position.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a detachable bed bottom together with means for securing the bed bottom to the frame of the bed, the securing-means being in the form of spring members to lend the necessary resiliency to the bottom.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the. description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawings Figure 1 illustrates a bottom plan vlew of a bed constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 illustrates a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 illustrates a plan view of the bed in its folded position.
Fig. 4 illustrates a fragmental detail view of one of the bracing arms; and
Fig. 5 illustrates a plan view thereof.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 designates the side rails of the bed, each of which includes a pair of angle irons having elongated openings 6 and 7 formed therem, the openings 6 being formed in the upper surface of the angle irons while the openlngs 7 are formed in the side surfaces thereof.
These openings 6 and 7 accommodate the bolts 8 which receive the washers 9, and

provide means for securing. the sections of the side ra ls together, it being obvious that this particular form of connection permits the sections to move longitudinally with relat on to each other, but at the same time provides rlgid connections between the sections.
Each of the side rails also has a right angled end portion indicated at 10, which end portions have connection with the end rails of the bed through the medium of the hinge members 11, and as shown each of these end rails is hinged intermediate its ends as at 12,.to permit the end rails to fold Iiontp engagement with the side rails of the Associated with each of the end rails is an inner bracing railindicated at 13, which is hingedly connected to theright angled ends 10, at the respective ends of the bed proper, as at 14:, so that the bracing rails may move to positions in parallel relation with the end rails to overlap the hinged portions 12 thereof, to prevent breaking of the hinge, when the bed is in its extended position, there being provided a pivoted securing button 15 carried by one end of the bracing arm, and adapted to pass through a suitable opening provided in the opposite right angled end 10, to prevent displacement of the bracing arm.
Carriedby one section of each of the side rails is a supporting rib indicated at 16, to which ribs are secured one of. the ends of each of the angularly disposed brace arms 17, which include strips of metal bent intermediate their side edges to provide opposed walls which are connected by the pins 18, the pin 18 forming abutments for the free ends of the brace arms 19, the free ends being notched as at 20 to fit around the pins 18 to secure the arms against displacement.
These arms 19 are pivotally connected to the inner bracing rails 13, as by means of the ribs 21 and pivot pins 22, there being provided a suitable cut out portion 23 formed adjacent to the pivot end of each of the arms 19, to permit the arms 19 to clear the ribs 21 and fold into close engagement with the bracing rails.
The supporting legs indicated at 24 are pivotally connected to the side rails as at 25, and are designed to move into parallel relation with the side rails of the bed tion, there being provided bracing members posed in suitable spaced relation 26, which are pivotally connected tothe respective supporting legs, adjacent the lower ends thereof for securing the legs in their supporting positions. V
Formed in each of the sections of the side rails, are openings adapted to receive the locking button 2? carried by the bracing members 26, and it will be seen that when the buttons are positioned in the openings, and moved to positions as indicated by Fig. l of the drawings, the legs will b maintained in their supporting positions, but it is desired to fold the bed, the bracing members 26 are moved into parallel relation \viththe supporting legs, with the result that the supporting l gs together with the bracing member 26,1nay be folded into parallel relation with the side rails.
A plurality of openings 28 are terms-u in the bracing rails 13, the openings being dis-- other, and designed. to receive the. outer hooked ends of the spring member the inner ends thereof having connection with the bottom 30 which is formed of any suit able fabric material, there being positioned the rods 31 at the ends of the fabric material to reinforce the same and prevent the spring members from tearing through the fabric material.
Similar spring members have connec tion with the sides of the bed bottom, and connect the bed bottom to the side rails of the bed, to lend the desired resiliency to the bed bottom, and prevent sagging there of at its side edges.
It is believed that in view of the foregoing disclosure, a further detail description as to themanner of folding the bed, is unnecessary.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is 1. A folding bed including side rails, each with each of the side rails comprising opposed sections, each of the sect1ons having an elongated opening formed therein, means passing through the elongated openings for adjustabl'y connecting the sections, end rails hingedlyiconnected to the side rails, hinged means for bracing the end side rails,
vsupporting legs hingedly connected to the side rails, and a removable bottom'support'ed by the end and side rails. V r
2. A folding bed including a" frame comprising SlflQhllCl end rails, means for per mltting'the s1dera1ls to. be ad usted longitudlnally, bracing members for'bracing the side and end rails, each of the bracing members includmg $138111 of arms pivotally connected to the frame, one of said arms having a pin secured thereto, the opposite arm having a notched portion formed in one end thereof, and adapted to embrace the t 'n to prevent movement of one arm with reation to another, supporting legs hingedly connected to the frame, and means for bracing the supporting legs.
A folding bed including a frame com-- prising side and end rails, each of the side rails including a pairvof adjustable arms, each of the end rails including a member hinged intermediate its ends, a bracing rail associated with each of the end rails, and
