To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EARL E. .ADAMS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rogers, in the county of Benton, State of Arkansas, have invented a new and useful Camp-Stove; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to stoves and the like, and more particularly to a camp stove, and an object of the invention is to provide an improved, simple, efficient and practical camp stove, which is foldable, so that the same is rendered easily portable from place to place.

One of the features of the invention is the provision of a rectangular frame constructed of heavy wire, to which the sides and ends of the camp stove are pivoted, the sides folclable inwardly one upon the other, and upon which the ends are foldable, said ends having flanges on their side edges to be engaged by. the sides of the stove when in use. Another feature of the invention is the provision of a flanged top having stove openings to engage over the folded sides and ends when collapsed or in erect position for use.

In practical fields, the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in perspective of an improved collapsible camp stove constructed in accordance with the invention.

Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the body of the camp stove, showing the sides and ends folded, and the top engaging thereon, whereby the stove is reduced to a small compass. whereby the stove may be easily carried from one place to another.

Fig. 5 is a detail view of the means for fastening a flange to the top of the stove, to be engaged by an exhaust flue.

Referring more especially to the drawings, 1 designates an elongated rectangular frame, which is constructed preferably of heavy wire material. The longitudinal slde pieces 2 and the end pieces 3 may be constructed of any suitable sheet metal, preferably galvanized iron, the edge portions of which are folded, as shown at i, to re inforce the side and end pieces, as well as to relieve the sharp edges. Galvanized sheet iron straps 5 are provided, which are bent over the sides and ends of the rectane'ular wire frame, and have their end portions riveted, as shown at 6, to the inner and outer faces of the sides and ends, thereby pivotally connecting the sides and ends to said frame. The end pieces 3 have flanges 7, which lap the end portions of the side pieces, when erect and in use. When the camp stove is collapsed, the side pieces are folded inwardly, while the end pieces are folded inwardly and upon the side pieces, their side flanges overlying and engaging the sides of said wire rectangular frame, thereby holding the side pieces closed or collapsed. A suitable stove top 9 is provided having longitudinal side and end flanges 10 and 11, and when the side and end pieces of the body of the stove are collapsed the stove top is fitted to the rectangular wire frame adjacent one of the side pieces, thereby reducing the structure of the stove to a small compass, whereby the same may be carried from one place to another. When the side and end pieces of the body of the stove are disposed vertically or erect, their free edges are designed to engage the ground, the fire to be made on the ground inside the body of the stove. The stove top is then fitted to the body of the stove, to engage the rectangular wire frame. The stove top is provided with suitable openings 12 over which various pans may be placed for cooking purposes. Lids 13 having looped handles 14:, are pivoted to the stove top to cover said 0penings. An additional opening 16 is formed in the stove top, and anannular band 17 is provided, which band is supplied with la erally extending tongues 18, which are alternately deflected, or in other words are staggered in edge view, to engage above and below the stove top, thereby holding the band in the opening 16, to form a flange to be engaged by a conventional form of discharge flue, not shown, to carry off the smoke from the fire. One of the end pieces of the stove body has a rectangular opening 19, and adjacent to one side of the opening the door 20 is mounted upon hinges 21 for closing the opening, there being a suitable latch or hasp 22 to lock the door. However, the door is supplied with an opening 23, the draft through which may be controlled by a damper .2 pivoted at 25 to the door. This damper has a suitable handle riveted at 26 thereto. This handle 27 has a laterally extending portion 28, which is designed to engage opposite edges of said damper opening to limit the damper to its extreme movements in a direction toward the left. This handle 27 is constructed from a piece of spring sheet metal, so that when the damper 24 is moved in a direction toward the left, the detached end having the portion 28 will engage the edge of the damper opening, thereby limiting the damper in a partial open position. If desired, when moving the damper toward the left, the handle may be sprung outwardly, so'as to overlie the stove door adj acent the edge ofsaid damper opening, thereby holding the damper in its open position. The detached end of the handle is rolled or bent upon itself, to form said laterally extending portion 28.

The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful, is:-

In a folding camp stove, a stove cover having side and end flanges inclined outwardly and downwardly, a rectangular frame formed from wire fitting up into the cover adjacent the inner-faces of said side and end flanges, a stove body comprising side and end pieces, metal loop straps connecting the upper edges of the side and end pieces to the side and end pieces of the rectangular framewhereby the side and end pieces may be folded inwardly, said metal loop straps being spaced from each other thereby allowing air to enter the stove between the cover and the rectangular frame when the stove is unfolded and its parts in position for use.
