IMPROVEMENT IN lRONlNG APPARATUS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent 1:10. 135,606, dated February 4, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known'that I, ELISHA SUMPTION, of South Bend, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Ironing Apparatus for Smoothing Clothes, of which the following is a specification:

Description of the Accompanying Drawing. Figure 1 is a side elevation as it appears when in operation; Fig. 2 is the table-frame, showing the friction-wheels, with the coveror T ironing-board detached. Fig. 3 is a side ele- 'in diameter, and one and a fourth inch on the face, on each side of which is attached a small pulley, b, all working on a common axle. In the face of said wheel are out two grooves to receive the cords c and 01. These cords are attached at one end in the grooves in the face of the wheel B atthe points marked 1 and 2, while the other ends are attached to the horizontal pitman e at the pointsmarked 3 and 4. Claim.

I claim as my invention- The combination of the table A, the top movable on friction-rollers, with side pieces h and standards 'i j, the treadles g, cords f, wheel B, the 'pitman E, and the smoothing-iron O, as and for the purpose specified.
