Be it known that JOHN SALMINEN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Re seating Valve-Body Seats, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to apparatus for seating valve body seats of gate valves; and has for an object to provide an apparatus of this kind adapted to reseat the valve body seats of valves from which the valve cap and stem have been removed but which are still connected to the pipe line.
Other objects of the invention are to provide an apparatus adapted to be easily mounted upon the flange of the valve barrel and to provide an apparatus of this kind in which the reseating tool ma`y be fed either automatically or by hand.
Other objects are to provide an apparatus of this kind which will be efficient and durable in operation, which may be economically manufactured, and which will not get out' of order; Y
Other objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds; and while herein minutev details of theinvention are described, the invention is not limited to these, since many and various changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as claimed.

My improved reseating vapparatus is shown as applied for reseating the valve body seat 10 of a gate valve, fromthe valve barrel 11 of which theV valve cap andv valve stem have been removed.
The apparatus is supported onan lshaped base 13 having supporting arms 14 resting upon and adapted to be clamped upon the flange 16-of the valve barrel. Said base is provided with a'vertical body portion 18 formed with a flat vertical slide-way 19 having an under-cut beveledrfixed guide 2O at one edge. At the other edge of the lslide-way there is provided an under-cut beveled adjusting gib 23Vheld in place by a headed bolt 24 engaging in said body p0rtion 18.
The operating mechanisms of the apparatus are mounted upon an adjustable support 25 comprising a vertical, beveled slide 26 held in said slideway by said guide 20 and .l

In combination, a support comprising a bearing bracket having aV horizontal bearing bore; a rotary sleeve mounted on said support; a feed shaft in said sleeve; means for locking said shaft and sleeve together; a journal shaft rotatably mounted in said horizontal bearing bore; a supporting gear on the inner end of said journal shaft and having a diametric feed-screwin said receiving bore and having a feed. pinion thereon; a tool carrier moved by said feed screw; a drive pinion yon said sleeve and engagingv the teeth of said supporting gear; an idler gear rotatable on said bracket and engaging said feed pinion; and a feed drive gear on said feed shaft and engaging .said idler gear; the teeth of said supporting gear; said drive pinion, said feed pinion, said idler; gear; and said feed drive gear having such ratio that the feed screw will feed when said sleeve and feed shaft are locked together and rotated. f

In an apparatus for reseating valve body seats, the combination of a support comprising a lower horizontal bearing bracket having a horizontal bearing bore, said horizontal bracket being provided with an external annular seat around its inner end and an annular recess around the outer end of its bearing bore; a rotary sleeve said sleeve; means for at will 'locking' said shaft and sleeve together;,a journal shaft rotatably mounted in -said horizontal bearing bore; a retaining plate Vsecured to the outer end of said journal shaft and received in said annularrecess; a supporting gear formed on and integral with the inner end of said Vjournal shaft and having a diametric feed-screw receiving boreV .and a guideway communicating with said bore; a feed screw in saidreceiving bore; a feed pinion on said screw; a tool carrier von said supporting gear and moved by said screw; a drive pinion on said sleeve and engaging the teeth of said supporting gear a double idler gear rotatable onsaid scat and engaging said feed pinion; and a feed drive gear on said feed shaft and engaging said idler gear; Vthe teeth of said supporting gear; said drive pinion, saidV feedl pinion, said idler gear, and said feed drive gear havin such ratio that the feed screw will feed w en'said sleeve and feed shaft are locked together and rotated.

In combination,` a support; a supporting member rotatably mounted on said support and provided with a transverse guideway; a transverse feed screw; a tool carrier fittingy in said guide lway and having thread segments engaging saidfeed screw; means for rotating the supporting member; and means for rotating the feed screw.

In combination, a support; a ySupporting member mounted on saidv support and provided with a diametric feed screw receiving bore, a diametric undercut guideway, and an elongated guide recess in the bottom of said under-cut recess and communicating withl said bore; a feed screw in said receiving bore; a tool carrier fitting in said under-cut guide way and provided with an elongated lateral extension disposed in said guide recess andliaving thread segments engaging said feed screw; means for driving the supporting member; and means .forrotating the feed screw. Y 8. In combination; a support; a rotary drive member and a' rotary feed member on said support; means for locking said members together; means for rotating said drive member; a supporting gear rotatably mounted on said support and provided with a diametric feed-screw receiving bore, a diametric under-cut guide-way, an elongated guide recess in the bottom ofr said underj said drive member and said supporting gear;
and gear means operatively connecting said feed pinion and said feed member.

In an apparatus for reseating .valve body seats, the combination of supports; a rotary sleeve` and a rotary feed shaft on said support; means for locking said sleeve and shaft together; means for rotating said sleeve; a supporting gear rotatably mounted on said support and provided with a diametric feed-screw receiving bore, a diametric under-cut guide-way, anv elongated guide recess in the bottom of said under-cutrecess and communicating with: saidVV bore, and a pinion. receiving recess; a feed screwin said receivingV bore ;.a driven feed pinion onsaid screw and disposed insaid recess; an idler gear on vsaid support and engaging said feed pinion; a tool carrier fitting in said under-cut guide'way vand'provided with an elongated lateral extension Vdisposed insaid guide recess and vhaving thread. segments engaging said feed screw; a drive pinion on said sleeve and'engaging the teeth of said supporting gear and a feed drive gear on said feed shaftA and engaging said idler gear andI operatively connected with 'said feed' pinion. v

In an apparatus for reseating the valve body seats of` a gate valve from the valve barrelof which the valve cap and valve stem have been removed', the combination of a base having Vsupporting parts adapted to be supported onthe barrel, and provided with abody portion formed with a. guide-way; a support slidable-on said guide way; a" rotary. member mounted on said support; and al tool-'operated by said rotary member and adapted to operate upon the valve body seat.
