Description
drawal on entering the chamber or until it has had sufficient time to be cooled by cony cured to the inner circumferential wall or` flange V0&2, of the cooling chamber between the inlet C, to said chamber and the outlet G1 therefrom, and in such manner as'to form a sealedjoint, while the other end of Y ing throughV which. water may pass around the partition from the smaller into vthe larger compartment, and Y thus cause the water entering the inlet C, to circulate around the smaller'compartment and pass thence into and through the larger compartment, wherein it is thoroughly cooled, andv to prevent the water from being drawn off before it has circulated -through both compartments ofthercooling chamber and become thoroughly cooled. Y
On( opposite sides of the partition B, at that end thereof which is joined to the inner circumferential wall of the cooling chamber, openings are provided through the flange a2, and in one of said openings' is se* cured a'lnipple C, adapted, for connection through the refrigerator wall with a supply pipe Vthrough which water from a bottle or other source of supply supported preferably on the outside of the refrigerator, may flow into the smaller compartment of the cooling chamber, and -in the opening on the opposite side of said partition is attached a nipple C1, adapted for connection through the refrigerator wall with a spigot on the outside of said wall, whereby the water may be drawn off from timeto time and replenished `in the manner indicated in my application Serial No. 193,752, on which Patent No. 1,292,573V issued January 28, 1918, and of which this application is lessentially a division. In .the circumferential wall of the cooling chamber, adjacent that end of the partition which terminates short of. said wall, an opening D, is formed through which a wire maybe inserted on either side ofthe partition for raking and cleaning out any substance, or foreign matter, that may accumulatein the cooling chamber, such opening being normally closed by a suitable plug orstopper d, screwed into a nut d1, which may be soldered orV otherwise secured to the Youter circumferential wall of vthe cooler.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1L water cooler adapted for use as a false bottomv in the ice chamber of a refrigat one side of its center from between said inlet Vand outlet to the opposite sidethereof so as to form a large and a small compartment separated by said partition, a water said partition terminates a short distance passage being provided at the end of said partition remote from said inlet and outlet for the circulation of water around the par tition and through both compartments.
2. A water cooler adapted for use as a j false bottom in the ice chamber of avrefrigpassage being provided Yat theend 'of said'Y partition ,remote from said inletand outlet for the circulation of water around the par-- tition and through iboth compartments, and a clean-out, opening through said walladjacent' said passage for the insertion ofV va tool for cleaning out said compartments.
8. A water cooler adapted for use as a false bottom in the ice chamber of a refrigerating apparatus for supporting blocks of ice thereon, said cooler comprisinga shallow receptacle composedlvof a substantially circular top plate having a depending circumf ferentialannular flange,v said flange having its lower edge outwardly turned anda cor,- respondingly shaped` bottom plate having a backwardly turned circumferential edge overlapping the outwardly turned edge of said top plate, whereby thev two plates are firmly secured together with a sealedjoint, said annular flange :havingvan inlet and an outlet opening therethrough, and a partition i c plate at one side of the center of the receptacle secured at one end to said flange between said inlet and outletV openings and extending, across to near theopposite side of the receptacle so as to provide a waterpassage between its free end and said flange.
t. A' water cooler adapted for use as a false bottom in the ice chamber of a refrigerating apparatus for supporting blocks 0f ice thereon, said cooler comprising a shallow receptacle composed of substantially circular top and bottom plates, one havinga circumferential annular flange with inlet and outlet openingstherein and an outwardly turned edge and the other having its Vedge turn-ed backwardly and overlapping said outwardly turned edge of the other plate for securing the two plates together, and a partition plate having one end secured to said annular flange between; said inlet and outlet openings and extending across the receptacle and terminating near the outer wall thereof so as to provide a water passage around the partition between its free end and said outer wall.
5. A water cooler adapted for use in the ice chamber of a rerigerating apparatus comprising top and bottom plates of circular form separated by an annular circumferential flange on one plate secured to theperiphery of the other plate, and a partition separating the space between said plates into two compartments of unequal size, said partition having at one end a water passage adjacent the encircling wall of the receptacle, an opening being formed through said wall adjacent said passage for the insertion o a tool for cleaning out said compartments, and means for closing said opening,
6. A water cooler adapted for use in the ice chamber of a refrigerating apparatus comprising a shallow receptaclek of circularn form having a partition therein separating the water space into two compartments, ak water passage being provided at one end of said partition adjacent the encircling wall of the vessel, and inlet and outlet openings' on opposite sides of the other end of said partition, together with means for connect-k compartments, and means for closing said opening.
