Description

A. J. SELZ.
PAPER BOTTLE. 7 APPLICATION FILED OCT-2,1917.
1,342,770. Patented June 8, 1920.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANDREW J. SELZ, OF NEW ROCHELLE, YORK, ASSIGNOR T0 PAPER BOTTLE AND CAN COMPANY, INC., 013 WILMINGTON, .DELAWARE, A CORPORATION OF DELA- WARE.
PAPER BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 2, 1917. Serial No. 194,328.
1"0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ANDREW J. SELZ, a citizen of the United States, and resident of New Rochelle, in the county of Vestchester and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Paper Bottles, of which the following is a is represented in the accompanying drawings in which,
Figure 1 represents the blank from which the bottle is formed.
Fig. 2 represents in perspective, the bottle formed from the blank.
Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the bottle, and
Fig. 4 is a detail section at the bottom of the bottle.
The blank from which the bottle is formed is scored and out as follows:
Diverging score lines 1, 2, 3, 4, form five diverging side members 6, 7 8, 9, 10, the members 6 and 10 of which are intended to overlap in the completed bottle. Transverse score lines 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, are located at the bases of alternating separate full and half- size bottom members 16, 17, 18', 19, 20. Transverse score lines 21, 22, are located at the bases of top members 23, 24, which top members are provided with score lines 25, 26, 27, 28, and cuts 29, 30, 31, 32 forming flaps 33, 34, 35, 36, arranged to overlap the top sides of the bottle when completed. These top members 23, 24, also have holes 37, 38, therethrough. Cuts 39, 40, 41, 42 serve to separate the full and half-size bottom members.
In the completed bottle, a'very substantial and strong bottom of four thicknesses is formed by the bottom members 16, 17, 18, 19, 20. A very strong top of two thicknesses is provided for the bottle by the members 23, 24, and their flaps 33, 34, 35, 36.
It is to be understood that the overlapping side members and flaps may be firmly glued or otherwise cemented and where the bottle is to be used for liquids, the entire bottle may be treated with a suitable material such as paraffin, to render the same moistureproof.
Bottles produced from blanks as herein described will be very strong and durable and a number of them may be packed in a very small space for shipment without danger of their collapse.
W hat I claim is:
1. A tapered paper bottle comprising diverging side members, alternating separate full and half-size bottom members and one or more top members, said top member or members having oppositely arranged depending flaps overlapping the upper portions of their adjacent side members.
2. A tapered paper bottle comprising diverging side members, alternating separate full and half-size bottom members and one 01' more topmembers, said top member or members having a hole or holes therethrough for gaining access to the interior of the bottle.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name this 27th day of September 1917.
ANDREW J. SELZ.
