To all whom it may concern: v
Be vitknown that I, FRANK CRnAsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Richmond, in the county of Ray and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cement Block Molds; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has for its obj ect to providel a simply constructed and inexpensive, yet a highly efficient and in every way desirable mold for constructing cement building blocks of any required lengths and in suchmanner as to permit the formation of a continuous air channel in the blocks of each tier of the completed wall.
l/Vith the foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, the descriptive matter being supplemented by the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application. v

In the drawings above briefly described, the numerals 1 and 1a designate a plurality of parallelmembers which form the sides of the blocks and willtherefore be hereinafter referred to as side forming members. The outermost members 1iL are each formed of a strip of sheet metal with its central longitudinal portion stamped inwardly to provide the inner side of the member with a longitudinal rib 2. Transverse bars 3 span the inwardly stamped rib forming portions of the members 1a and the edges of the latter may well be clenched around the ends of said bars as seen at 4. These bars are formed with openings 5 to receive tie rods 6 by means of which all of the side forming members are clamped together, said Specicaton of Letters Patent.

members having openings through which the rods pass as clearly shown in Fig. 6. One end of each rod may be provided with a crank 7 and the other end may be threaded at 8 through one of the openings.
The intermediate side forming members 1 are each formed of two strips 9 of sheet metal, the edges of one strip being clenched around the edges of the other as seen at 10, while the intermediate longitudinal portions of both strips are stamped outwardly to provide longitudinal ribs 1 1. These ribs and the ribs 2 form longitudinal air circulating grooves inthe opposite sides of theA blocks. v
:Transverse end forming members 12 and 12a extend between the side forming members, said members 12.a being located at the extreme ends of the mold. while the members p 12 are slidable into differently spaced relation, according to the length of the blocks to be constructed.v Each member 12 consists of two H-shaped plates whose parallel portions 13 contact with each other and have their edges clenched together at 14, while the connecting portions 15 of the plates are stamped outwardly to provide rib's. The end forming members 12u are each constructed of an outer Hfshaped plate 13a and an inner similarly shaped plate 13b,
the two being clenched together at their y edges as seen at 14a. The entire area of the plate 13,a islocated in the same plane, while the connecting portion 15a of the inner plate 13b is stamped to form a rib corresponding to the rib formingjportions'15.` The ends ofk the longitudinal side forming members 1 and la' are bent laterally to provide flanges 16, against which the end members 12a abut, and the outermost of the tie rods 6 may well pass through said end members as shown for instance in Fig. 5. Similarly, the other tie rods may extend through the end forming members 12 when the latter are spaced in such relation as to permit. Y
When forming blocks of exceptional length, the members 12 may be omitted between certain of the members 1 as seen. at the bottom of Fig. 4;, and sleeves 17 lmay then surround the tie rods 6 to hold the longitudinal members in properly spaced relation.
In operation, the entire mold is placed on a suitable pallet (not shown), the end forming members 12 are adjustable as required, and are clamped in place by tightening the rods 6 and the cement may thenybe poured into the mold. The surface of the blocks to beeXposed when incorporated in a wall, may be finished in any preferred manner, but the suction system is by preference employed for this purpose and a suitable edging tool is used.
The device is of simple and inexpensive, yet efficient and durable construction, and is in every way desirable; and on account of the proven merit of the details disclosed, they are by preference followed. I wish it understood however that within the scope of the invention as claimed, numerous minor changes may well be made.
I claim: 1. In a cement block mold, a plurality of parallel longitudinal side forming members having longitudinal ribs on their sides, transverse end forming members extending between said side members and 'having i notches in their ends receiving said ribs,
said end members being slidable along said side members, and means 'for clamping said side members against said end members.
2. In a cement block mold, a plurality of parallel longitudinal side forming members having longitudinal ribs on their sides, transverse end forming members'extending between said side members and each formed of two H-shaped plates with the parallel portions of one plate contacting with and clenched around the parallel portions of the other plate, and with the connecting portions of the two plates bowed outwardly, the edges of said connecting portions abutting said ribs and the ends of said parallel vportions bearing against said side members above and below said ribs, and means for Vclamping said side members and end members together.
3.. In a cement block mold, a plurality of parallel longitudinal side forming members formed of sheet metal stamped to provide said members with longitudinal ribs, the outermostof said side members having ribs formed of sheet metal stamped to provide said members with longitudinal ribs, theends of said side members being bent laterally to form flanges, end members eXtending between said side members. andv having notches in their ends receiving said ribs, said.

5. In a cement block mold, a plurality of parallel longitudinal side forming membersy formed of sheet metal, each of the outer-Y most of said members being formed of one.
