DANCING-FIGURE TOY.
Application filed August 14, 1919. Serial No. 317,600.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK MAJEWSKI, a citizen of Poland, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dancing- Figure Toys, of which the following is a specification. 7
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved construction in figure toys in the embodiment of dancing dolls wherein there is provided a rotatable support for causing a circularpio gression of the dancing dolls while elements are caused to rotate within the circular support to cause a rotation of the dancing dolls during the circular progression thereof.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved figure toy that embodies a plurality of dancing dolls arranged in couple formation with anovel form of operating mechanism for causing a main supporting disk to rotate with similar disks rotating therein, the device being manually operated.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts herein fully described in connection with the accompanying drawing and wherein like reference characters indicate similar parts throughout the several views.
In the drawing,
Figure 1 is a verticalcross sectional view of a figure toy constructed in accordance with the present invention and Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the cover removed showing the driving means for the small figure supporting disks.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing, there is shown a casing 5 preferably rectangular in plan view hav ing a bottom wall 6 and'a removable top wall 7 secured thereto by fastening means passing through openings 8 formed in said top wall 7 A relatively large central opening 9 is formed in the top wall 7 and provides a clearance space for a rotating table top 10, the upper surface of which lies flush with the upper surface of the top wall 7 as illustrated in Fig. 1, the same being supported upon the head 11 carried by the upper end of the shaft 12 that is rotatably supported at its lower end in the bearing stand 13.

with the angle ends thereof secured to the top wall-as at 15 while a stationary disk 16 is secured thereto as at 17 and held immovable thereby, a central opening 18 being provided in the disk 16 through which the shaft 12 freely extends. The upper face of the disk 16 is cutaway as illustrated in Fig. 1 to provide a clearance for the shaft head ll and also a support for the bearing plate 19, the upper face of which is provided with a race for ball bearings as illustrated, part of the weight of the rotatable table top 10 being supported on the ball bearings. The periphery of the disk 16 is provided with a covering strip 20, the outer surface of which functions as a frictional element and the strip may be either a band of leather or sand paper, etc.
A plurality of circular recesses 21 are formed in the upper face of the rotatable table top 10 and into which the disks 22 are adapted to be received, the disks supporting figures 23 as indicated in Fig. 1. Each disk 22 is provided with a central polygonal opening into which the squared end 2a of the shaft 25 extends, the shaft .rotatably extending from the adjacent portion of the table 10 and being supported in bearings formed in spaced bars 26 secured together andto the under surface of said table top 10 by the fastening members 27, friction disks 28 being secured to the shafts 25 between the spaced bars 26 and in frictional engagement with the band 20 upon the center stationary disk 16. 7
Means are provided for imparting rotary motion to the table top 10 and includes a crown gear 30 having a central hub portion 31 secured to the shaft 12 as at 82, the crown gear 30 meshing with a pinion 83 secured upon the inner end of the shaft 341 horizontally journaled through the casing wall 5 and the bracket 35 while a crank handle 36 is secured upon the outer projecting end' thereof.
In the operation of the device, rotary movement of the crank handle 36 through the meshing gear and pinion above described imparts rotary movement to the shaft 12 and through the shaft to the rotatable table top 10. The disks 22 being can ried by the table top 10 will rotate therewith and as the central disk 16 is held stationary by its connection with the angle bar 14, the small disks 28 meshing with the periphery of the central disk 16 will cause the rotary motion of the disks 22 within the rotating table top 10 thus creating the impression of Waltzing dolls by a revolving movement of the dolls through a circular progression thereof.
While there is herein shown and described what are believed to be the preferred -em-' bodiments of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made in the form, combination and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is 1. A figure toy embodying a casing, a cover wall removably attached thereto, an angle bar connected to the cover wall, a relatively large central disk secured to the angle bar, a shaft journaled through said disk and supported at its lower end in said casing, the cover wall. having a relatively large central opening therein, a rotatable table top received in said central opening and secured to the upper end of said shaft, the upper face of said table top having a plurality of circular sockets therein, disks received in said sockets, figures supported on said disks, a shaft journaled through each socket of said table top and fixedly connected to the small disk disposed therein, disksupon the lower projecting ends of said shafts meshing with the periphery of the main disk, and means for rotating the shaft.

A figure toy embodying a casing, a cover wall removably attached thereto, an angle bar connected to the cover wall, a relatively large central disk secured to the angle bar, a shaft journaled through said disk and supported at its lower end in said'casing, the cover wall having a relatively large central opening therein, a rotatable table top received in said central opening and secured to the upper'end of said shaft, the upper face of said table top having a plurality of circular sockets therein, disks received in said f sockets, figures supported on saiddisks, a shaft j ournaled through each socket of said table top and fixedly connected to the small disk disposed therein, disks upon the lower projecting ends of said shafts meshing with the periphery of the main disk, means for rotating the shaft, said means including a gear fixed to said shaft, a power shaft journaled in said casing, a pinion upon said power shaft in mesh with said gear and a crank upon said power shaft exteriorly of said casing for operating the same.

A figure toy comprising a casing, a relatively large stationary disk centrally supported therein, a shaft j ournaled through said disk, a rotatable table top fixed to the upper end of said shaft, disks rotatably sup-- ported in said table top, figures carried by said disks, friction wheels for operating said figure bearing disks frictiona-lly engaging the stationary disk and means for operating the shaft.
4. A figure toy comprising a casing, a relatively large stationary disk centrally supported therein, a shaft journa'led through said disk, a rotatable table top fixed to the upper end of said shaft, disks rotatably supported in said table top, figures carried by said disks, friction wheels for operating said figure bearing disks frictionally engaging the stationary disk, a ball bearing connection between the table top and stationary disk and means for rotating said table top.
A figure toy comprising a casing, a rotatable table top carried thereby, rotatable disks carried by the table top, a relatively large stationary disk within said casing, op-
erative connections between the stationary and rotatable disks, and means forrotating the table top.
