To all whom it may concern Be it known'that I, GEORGE H. PAGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Richmond, in the county of Ray and State of-Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lifting-Jacks, of which the following is a full and exact specification. I
The present invention relates to lifting provide an improved arrangement and construction having provision for quick and convenient adjustment of the lifting lever to various heights whenever the device is to be used under circumstances requiring a slight change in the fulcrum position of the lever. To this end the invention provides a jack construction comprising a standard having a vertical series of fulcrum shoulders with any one'of which the lever may be quickly associated, together with a suitable keeper member of an improved type for cooperating with the standard to hold the lever with its fulcrum in proper'position during the jacking operation.
With this general object in view as well various minor objects as will hereinafter appear, the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing illustrating one form of embodiment of the improvements, after which those features and combinations deemed to be novel will be set forth and defined in the appended claims.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a side elevation of the ack, with one end portion of the lifting lever broken away;
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken along the line Ill-11 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken along the line III-III of Fig. 1..
Referring to the drawing in detail, the improved jack is illustrated as comprising a standard made up of a pair of spaced upright members 2, 2, and secured in this relation by means of a spacing block 3 at the top and a spacin block 1 at the bottom, a base member 5 0 suitable width being also provided at the bottom for supporting the jack in proper vertical position. The front edges of the uprights 2 are formed with a vertical series of shoulders 6 arranged in pairs for supporting. the lever 7 and its pivot bolt 8 in various vertical positions; these front edges of the uprights are rein Specification of Letters Patent.

This is accomplished by forming a series of bolt openings 18 in the lever for adjustment of the bolt 8, whereby the latters position maybe changed either transversely .or longitudinally with reference to the lever and thus altering the fulcrum position of the latter for any one shouldered position of the bolt. It will thus be apparent that a simple and convenient construction has been devised for carrying out the desired objects of the invention. The levers position may be quickly changed to suit any ordinary height of wagon axle or other part to be lifted by simply raising the links 17 and bolt 16 along with the lever and shifting the bolt 8 to the proper shoulder 6, after which the keeper bolt 16 will, on releasing the links ;l '(,;drop into the corresponding pair of angles of the operative edges of the notches, are arranged accordlngly, being such as to bring said edges always at approximately may be attained by proper adjustment of the bolt 8 relatively to the bolt openings 18.
