To all whom it may concern:
Be it, known that I, lVAsYL LAWRUSHKO, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Con necticut, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements Devices for Looms, of which the following is a specification.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an electric. stop motion device for looms wherein an electric circuit is adapted to be established for stopping the loom when the fabric passing therethrough is not traveling in the proper manner.
A further object of the invention is to provide an electric stop motion device for looms that cooperates with the fabric therethrough to guide the sameduring its movement and which is adapted to be oper ated upon a reverse movement thereof to complete an electric circuit and stop the operation of the loom.

The gist of the pres resides in the specific construction of the guide roller 7 which will now be described in detail.
The guide roller 7 is shown in detail in Figs. 1 to 14 and includes a hollow cylindrical casing 8 open at each end and provided upon the periphery thereof wit-h a plurality of pins 9 arranged thereon in any desired formation. One end of the casing 8 is closed by a plug 10 secured in said end by a set screw 11 illustrated in Fig. 2 while an opening is provided centrall thereof to receive the stub axle 12 carried y the .block 13 and upon which axle, the plug 10 and easing 8 are rotatably mounted, lateral movement of the plug. and easing upon the axle 12' being prevented bythe ring adjustably secured to said axle between the block 13 and plug 10.
As illustrated .in 'Fig. 3, the inner wall of the casing 8' is uninterrupted and is adapted to receive in the open end thereof, the cylinder 15 that is retained therein and held immovable relative to said casing by p a set screw 16 shown at the right hand side of the casing'8.
Diametrically opposite key-way slots 17 are formed upon the inner face of the cylinder 15 as shown in Figs. 1 and- 5 for purposes presently to appear.

A block 18, is secured in the left hand end of the cylinder 15 by aset screw 19 illustrated in said figures and forms a bearing for one end of an expansion coil spring 20 contained within said cylinder. A cupshaped member 21 has the end wall 22 there- :of engaging the other end of said coil spring 20 and is slidably received in the cylinder 15, being capable of free longitudinal movement and prevented from relative rotary movement by the keys 23 formed upon diametrically opposite sides of the periphery thereof and extending longitudinally for sliding reception in key-way slots cup 21 with lugs 27 shown 17 of the cylinder.
With this construction, it will be seen that the cup 21 is capable of sliding movement in the cylinder and guided in such .movement by the keys 23 engaging the slots 17 which will prevent rotary movement of said cup and cause the same tobe revolved with the cylinder 15 and easing 8.
A tubular screw 24 shown in Figs. 1 and 14 includes a plain body portion as illustrated with an annular flange 25 intermediate the ends thereoinnd with a threaded head 26 at its forward end, the tubular screw 24 being adapted to have its head 26 inseged in the hollow portion of the 1n Figs. 1 and 7 projectingfrom opposite sides of the inner face of said cup for reception in the grooves of said screw head while the end of the provided with a pair of of the tubular screw 24 is received as shown in. A short metal tube 37 is inserted in the outwardly projecting end of the bushing 34 and is; engaged by the terminal screw 36.- A contactneedle 38 slidably projects through said insulator bushing 34 and i:- collars 39 and 40, an expansion coil spring 41 surrounding said contact needle 38 between the metal tube 3 7 and collar 40 while a closure plug 42 is inserted in the inner end of the insu lator bushing 34 to be engaged by the collar 39 to limit the forward movement of the contact needle caused by the spring. A bracket 43 is carried by the attaching plate 30 and supports a terminal plug while circuit wires 45 are connected to the termi-- nal plugs, 36 and 44 forming the lines 0? the circuit- The journal bearings for the casin -8 and parts that rotate therewith include the stub axle 12 at the left hand end thereof and the tubular screw 24, it being noted that the gasket bearing 28 rotates with the cylinder and easing 8 while the tubular screw 24 remains stationary by being secured by the set screw 33 to the stationary bracket 31.

l'Vhile I have herein shown what are be lieved to be the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made in the form. combination and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as new is:
1. The combination with the rotatable guide roller of a loom, of means associated with the guide roller for stopping the loom upon a reverse rotation of the guide roller, said means including a plurality of normally inoperative cooperating elements, and means engaging one of said elements to cause the coESpe-ration of saidcooperating elements for stopping the loom when the roller is reversely rotated. -2.-An electric stop motion device for looms including arotatable guide roller, a
