To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN J i RONAYNE, a
citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Electrical Illuminating Devices, and hereby declare the following specification to be a description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to produce a pleasing reflection and distribution of light by means of a submerged electrical bulb and mirror inclosed Within a vase or other structure, from the open top of which projects a foraminous foliage structure. All of which is hereinafter more, specifically set forth.

\Vithin the vase just above the contracted part I place a circular mirror cl, adapted to reflect" upward.
The center of the mirror (55, is pierced at e, for the reception of an electric light socket 9, into which theelectric light bulbh, is screwed.
Above the electric light bulb is a supporting frame comprising a. central ring Z, and arms m, m, extending therefrom tof an outer ring 0, which rests on the interior of the flaring mouth of the vase A. The ring 0', is held in position by flexible catches p, p, secured to the inner face of the vase.
Above the mouth of the vase is a light distributing structure B, formed of broadened leaves 7", r, and stems carrying flowers 8, s, alternating between the leaves.
In the artificial flowers 8, may be used sinall electric light bulbs ht, if it is so desired. In such cases the small electric light bulbs will be supplied withelectric current through wires 10, w, originating in the body of the vase. The use of auxiliary lights in the'flowers of the open work structure is an additional feature and adds to the general eflect.
The arms m, m, of a suppo-rtingframe may serve also to carry a thin screen of a colored medium n, through which light will readily pass, such as tissue paper, which will heighten the eflect of the device.
By this means I am enabled to get light effects of new and varied kinds.
In having the light distributing superstructure B, constructed so it is detachable from the vase A, I am enabled to obtain ready access to the interior of the vase, and to vary the style of superstructure.
It will be understood that I do not limit myself to any specific design for either the 1 vase or base or the deflecting upper portion as it is apparent that the superstructure may be varied so long as the light distributing part is foraminous and the source of light is inclosed within the lower inclosing structure with means below it for reflecting the light into the open work part above.
hat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is:
1. 'In an electric light distributing device, a hollow containing receptacle inclosing a circular mirror pierced at its center with a circular opening, an electric light bulb protruding through said opening, surrounded by said mirror and a deflecting foraminous structure in simulationof foliage and flowers above said light and reflector, as shown and described. I 2. In an electric lighting device,'an inclosed light compartment with an open top having a flat upwardly reflecting ring or mirror, located therein adapted to surround an electric light bulb, and a superimposed foraminous metal structure in simulation of foliage and flowers, detachably resting on said inclosedlight compartment, substantially as shown and described.
