SUSPENSORY BANDAGE.

have invented a certain new anduseful 1111- provement in Suspensory Bandages, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to that class of suspensories in which the supporting sack hangs suspended from a waistband or belt, and the object of the invention is to provide a simple device of this character which shall conform to the shape of the body, perform its functions efficiently, and which may be easily adjusted to insure such conformity to the wearer.

Another important object of the invention is to provide a bandage in which the parts may be separated for convenient and efiectual cleansing, and in which worn or damaged parts may be replaced with new parts of the same or other sizes or types if desired.

The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement by which the above objects are attained, to be hereinafter described and claimed.

The accompanying drawings form a part of this specification and show an approved form of the invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved bandage.

Fig. 2 is a face view of a portion thereof detached.

Similar letters of reference indicate the same parts in both the figures.

A is the belt portion of a waistband of cotton webbing or analogous material, joined at one end to a pad or triangular downward extension B, and at the other end adapted to be engaged by a buckle C on an independent pad or downward extension C which is a counterpart of the attached pad B. Each extension is shaped on its outer margin to match approximately to the groin of the wearer.

To the lower narrow end B C of each pad or extension is separably attached a tab M on opposite sides of an open pouch or sack M which is thus suspended from the extensions in a manner similar to a hammock.

An elastic strip D is separably joined at its ends to the extensions B C near the tops of the latter and forms when thus attached Specification of Letters Patent.

a continuation of the waistband encircling the body of the wearer. The elastic strip D carries a group of sockets cl at each end adapted to engage interchangeably with studs d on the extensions B C, the sockets and studs being the usual snap fasteners of proper size and shape, and the narrow lower extremities of the extensions are each equipped with a plurality of similar sockets m adapted to receive a correspondin stud on each of the tabs M of the sack N.

The adjustment aflorded by the fasteners d d permits the space between the extensions to be varied in width to suit the extensions to the wearer, and also to raise or lower the strip D relatively to the extensions so that the front portion of the waistband, of which the strip is a continuation, may be raised or lowered as required in conforming to the body. The sack l is adjustable vertically by means of the fasteners m.

It will be noted that the waistband A with its attached extension B, the independent extension 0, the strip D, and sack M are all detachable each from the others so that all the parts may be separated for easy cleansing, and that a new part may be substituted for a worn or damaged part. A further advantage of the arrangement is that it permits the sack M to be readily removed and replaced by another of the same or difi'erent size or shape.

It has been demonstrated practically that the improved bandage is eminently efficient and comfortable in use, due to shaping it to conform to the body and providing the adj ustability necessary in meeting the needs of the individual wearer.

Excepting the short strip D all the parts may be of inelastic material as cotton or other washable fabric, and the strip D may be replaced at small expense when its elasticity is impaired, Without discarding any of the remaining parts of the bandage,

I claim 1. As an improved article of manufacture, the herein described bandage comprising a waistband formed of an inelastic belt portion, a downwardly extended triangular pad at each end thereof, an elastic strip separably joined at its ends to said pads adjacent the tops of the latter, a buckle attached to one of said pads for engagement with one end of the belt, depending tabs secured to the lower ends of said pads, and a sack having tabs, and means separably joining the tabs of the sack with the tabs depending from said pads, said sack being disposed at the front and extended transversely.

2. In a bandage of the character designated, a waistband, a triangular downward extension joined to each end thereof, an elastic strip separably secured at its ends to said extensions at their upper ends to form a continuation of the waistband, means connecting said ends of the elastic strip to the said extensions constructed to permit the space between the extensions to be varied in width and the elastic strip to be raised or lowered relatively to said extensions, elastic strips secured to the lower ends of said extensions, an open sack having tabs, and detachable snap fastener connections between said tabs and elastic strips whereby the sack may be adjusted Vertically, said sack being disposed at the front only of the waist-band and extended transversely.
