Description
C. H. GUILD.
SUSPENSORY.
APPLICATION HLED JUNE 27. 1919.
1,819,580., Patented 001;. 21,1919.
75 WI T/VSSES ATTORNEYS CHARLES HOWARD GUILD, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SUSPENSORY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 21, 1919.
Application filed June 27, 1919. Serial No. 307,099.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, CHARLES HOWARD GUILD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Suspensory, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved suspensory arranged to permit the user to readily place it in posi tion or remove it from the body and from a supporting belt without disturbing the pOSitiOn 0f the belt. Another object is to permit of readily disconnecting the :bag' of textile material from its metal frame for washing purposes. Another object is to insure a snug fit on the body and thus provide a dressy effect.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a front perspective view of the improved suspensory;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the metal frame; and
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the same.
The improved suspensory in its general construction consists essentially of a bag 10 and a metal frame 11. The bag 10 is made of linen, silk or other suitable textile fabric of a comparatively open mesh, and the bag is provided at the front of its mouth with a segmental hem having side members 13, and the bag is provided at the rear with a hem 141, the hems 12 and 14 being preferably formed of tape or other suitable binding material sewed to the mouth of the bag 10.
The frame 11 is preferably made of a single piece of wire bent to form an upright loop 15 open at the top and having its ends terminating in shanks 16 and 17 ex tending sidewise in opposite directions. The loop 15 engages the front hem 12 and the shanks extend through the side members 13 of the hem 12. The shanks terminate in hooks 18 and 19 extending upwardly and outwardly and are adapted to hook onto loops 20 and 21 at the end of a belt 22 worn at the waist of the user of the suspensory. ""By the arrangement described the suspensory can be quickly and conveniently attached to or detached from the belt. It will also be noticed that by the use of the loop 15in the metal frame 11 engaging the hem 12 the front of the bag 10 is provided with a penis opening not liable to be constricted, and as the frame is of a tiff material it stays in place and holds the loop! 15 in a downward and rearward position thus producing a desired dressy effect with the presence of the suspensory being-scarcely 11oticeable.
The rear hem 14- contains a draw string 25 having its ends extending a short distance into the outer ends of the hem members 13 of the hem 12 and out of the top of the said hem members 13 to allow of extending the draw string ends across the open top of the penis opening. The ends of the draw string 25 are tied together with a bow. By the use of the draw string 25 the mouth of the bag can be drawn more or less shut to properly inclose the scrotum.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A suspensory, comprising a. bag provided at the mouth with two hems, a metal frame having an open loop, and shanks extending sidewise from the ends of the loop, the said loop engaging one of the hems and its shanks extending through the ends of this hem, the frame having hooks extending upwardly and outwardly from the outer ends of the shanks, and a draw string in the other hem.
2. A suspensory, comprising a bag pro vided at the mouth with two hems, a metal frame having an open loop and shanks extending sidewise from the ends of the loop, the said loop engaging one of the hems and its shanks extending through the ends of this hem, the frame having hooks extending upwardly and outwardly from the outer ends of the hanks, and a draw string in the other hem, and having its ends extend ing into the outer ends of the loop hem and through the walls thereof to allow of tying the ends of the draw string across the open top of the opening formed in the front upper portion of the bag by the said loop ongaging the hem.
