Another object of the invention is to provide brackets with upwardly extending tongues for disposal through openings in the shelves when they are in a vertical position,'.the upwardly extending tongues engaging the rear of the shelves while de pending legs on the brackets engage the front of the shelves. 1 Additional: objects of the invention will appear in the following specification, in which the preferred form of my invention is described;

Figs. 3 and 4 are fragmentary views illustrating how the standard is hingedjto the shelves and the manner in which the standard is secured to the frame when the shelves hinged to the frame 11 at 13. A plurality of shelves 14 are provided to fill the openings in the frames 11 and 12 and to serve as panels. These shelves 14 are shown in a vertical position and in the longitudinal plane of the frame 11, the shelves 1 1 which are connected with the frame 12,be1n disposed in a horizontal position. When the shelves 1 1' are disposed horizontally and are supported by the standards 18, desired articles may be disposed on the shelves for display, but when desired the shelves 14: may be moved on their l'iingcd connection, which has been described, to vertical positions to fill the opening in the frame and when moved to the said vertical position the standards 18 may be secured to the frame. Sockets 20 are secured to the bottoms of the frames in which the bottoms of the standards 18 may be disposed, the upper ends of the standards 18 fitting between flanges 21 which have orifices 22 which register with an'orifice in the standard 18 and through which a pin23 may be disposed. Inasmuch as the recesses 17 are of substantially the same depth as the thickness of the shelves-14, it will be seen that when they are moved to vertical positions and in the recesses and the standards 18 engage the outer surfaces of the frame at its top and bottom, that the shelves 14 Will be held against movement. If desired, the shelves 14 may all be disengaged from the hooks 16 and may be removed from the frame and a single pane124; may be sub- ..stituted, this single panel 21 being secured in the frame by any desired means. In Fig. 1 of the drawings I show this panel 21 secured in the framelO.

the brackets 26 will be supported by the means which have 'been described. I prefer to make the tongues27; of suflicient length to engage not only therear of the shelf which has the openings 25 through which the tongues are disposed, but also the rear of the shelf disposed thereabove.

In the modified form of the invention, illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7, a panel 29 is shown which ispreferably constructed of cardboard, and which has shelves 30 which are. cut from the cardboard at 31 and which are bent at 32 so that the shelves 30 may be moved to horizontal positions, as illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7. In this construction a plurality .of'openings are made in the panel 29 with a shelf 30 at each opening which may be disposed horizontally to serve as a shelf, or which maybe moved to a vertical position toclose the opening. Hinged to the shelves 30 there is a standard 33 which will support the shelves 30 when they are disposed in a horizontal position. It will, of course, be understood that the cuts 31 made in the panel 29 may be curved as shown, or if desired, the cuts may be made angular as shown at 31 In the former case the edges of the shelves 30 will be curved, while in the latter case the shelves will be rectangular, as shown at 30*.

When the shelves are in a vertical position andare disposed to fill the opening in the frame, they may be covered by a member 35 in which may be made, as desired, openings 36 registering with the openings 25. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent;

1. and a standard hinged to the rear edges and intermediate the sldes of the shelves and serving as a support for the shelves when they are disposed in horizontal position.

4. In a display device, a frame having an opening, a shelf hinged to the frame at its front edge at the said opening for disposal in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame, and a movable standard articulated to the rear edge of the shelf intermediate, of its sides for supporting the shelf in position at angles to the said opening.

5. In a display device, a frame having an opening, a shelf for disposal in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame, a pin and hook connection between the sides of the shelf and the frame at the sides of the opening therein which permits the ready removal of the shelf to permit of the substitution of a panel in the openin in the frame, and a standard hinged to t e shelf for supporting the shelf in horizontal position.

6. In a display device, a frame having an opening, a plurality of shelves for disposal in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame for closing the opening, pin and hook connections between the sides of the shelves and the frame which permit the ready removal of the shelves, and a standard hinged to the rear edges of the shelves and intermediate of their sides for supporting the shelves in horizontal position.

7. In a display device, a frame having an opening, a shelf for disposal in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame, a pin and hook connection between the sides of the shelf and the frame at the sides of the opening therein which permits of the ready removal of the shelf from the frame, a standard hinged to the shelf for supporting the shelf in horizontal position, a socket at one end of the frame for receiving an end of the standard, and additional means to secure the standard tothe frame.

8. In a display device, a frame having an opening, hooks spaced apart on the frame at each side of the opening, a plurality of shelves for disposal in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame for closing the opening, pins on the shelves normally disposed on the hooks, and a standard hinged to theshelves for supporting the shelves in open and closed positions.

9. In a display device, a frame having an o ening, a plurality of shelves for dispose in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame for closing the opening, I

pivotal means connecting the shelves with the frame beyond the opening Which will permit of longitudinal movement of the shelves at the pivotal -means relatively to the frame, a vertical supporting standard to which the shelves are hinged, and means to secure the standard to the frame to hold the shelves in the opening in the frame.

10. Ina display device, a. frame having an opening, a plurality of shelves for disposal in the opening in the longitudinal plane of the frame for closing the opening,
