DISINFECTING SYSTEM.
Specification of Letters Patent. I
Application filed June 6, 1912. Serial No. 701,970.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIAN G. GooDHU'E, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Disinfecting Systems, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to a disinfecting system and special parts used in constructing the same. The principal object of my invention is to provide a disinfecting system which shall be more eliicient and at the same time cheaper to manufacture and install than those heretofore known.
A further object of my invention resides in the particular devices and combination thereof hereinafter described.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved system as installed for use.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a part of a system, the same consisting of a bracket and large pipe 'which contains a plurality of small pipes.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 is the cylinder of a door check having the usual connections for operating the check from the door 2; 3 is the cylinder of an automatic valve which has connection with three separate spraying devices 4, 5 and 6. 7 is a conduit or pipe leading from the door check 1 to the rotary valve 3, while 8, 9, 10 and 11 represent a conduit leading from the rotary valve to the respective spraying or atomizing devices. It will be understood that there is a small tube leading from the cylinder of the door check 1 to the rotary valve concealed within the pipe 7, while there are three tubes one for each of the spraying devices 4, 5 and 6 respectively, which lead from the rotary valve 3 and are concealed within the pipe 8 and the pipes 9, 10 and 11 respectively. It will be further understood that when the door opens and closes a blast of air is delivered by the door check to the rotary valve 3, and that this valve automatically connects the tube leading from the door check with each one of the tubes leading to the atomizers 4, 5 and 6 in turn. Hence in the system illustrated in Fig. 1 the device 4 will first deliver a spray, next the device 5, and finally the device 6,
whereupon the device 4 will again spray and the operation will be repeated. Each of the atomizers or sprayers 4, 5, and 6 has associated therewith a reservoir apparatus 12, 13 and 14, respectively which is designed to maintain a constant liquid level in the sprayer until such time as the liquid in the reservoir is almost completely used up.
It will be understood, however, that prior to such a time it is expected that the reservoir will have been refilled.
Fig. 2 shows a T fitting 44 designed for use in place of the fitting 15 in such cases as when the horizontal pipes run along the face of the wall instead of on the edge. Member 44 is open along one face, as shown in all three arms.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
1. The combination with a plurality of atomizers of large pipes leading to the same, and thence to controlling apparatus, and small pipes connected to said controlling apparatus and confined within said large pipes, and branching from the same to several atomizers.
2. The combination of a door, an air blast device, a pneumatically operated controlling mechanism, a pipe leading from said air blast device to said controlling mechanism, a plurality of small pipes connected to said controlling apparatus so as to receive blasts from said air blast device, one after another, a large pipe inclosing all of said small pipes, a plurality of atomizers, large pipes running from said large main pipe to said atomizers, and small pipes running from said main pipe and branching into the other large pipes running to the atomizers.
3. The combination with a plurality of atomizers and also with a single door check operating mechanism, of pipes leading from said door check mechanism to said atomizers, said pipes being inclosed by a larger pipe, said last mentioned pipe having branches leading to each atomizer.
4. The combination of a door, an air blast device operated by the door, an operating switching mechanism to switch the blast, connections leading from said air blast device to said switching mechanism, a plurality of disinfectin apparatus, a pipe leading from the switc ing mechanism to one of the disinfecting apparatus, connections leading from said last mentioned pipe to Patented July 8,1919.

5. The combination of operating apparatus, a plurality of atomizers, a pipe connecting an atomizer with said operating ap paratus connections leading from said pipe, a plurality of pipes provided in said first mentioned pipe, one leading to the first 10 named atomizer, and one or more pipes provided in the connections leading from the first mentioned pipe, each leading from a pipe in the first pipe to an atomizer.
