UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANZ LOUIS BREMER, OF MONTGOMERY, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN MECHANICAL POWERS.
v Specification forming-part of Letters Patent No. 130,696, dated August 20, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANZ LOUIS BREMER, of Montgomery, in the county of Kane and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Churn and Pump Powers; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a power for operating a churn, pump, or other machine where an up-anddown motion is desired.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which is a perspective "iew of my power.
A represents a pump, churn, or other machine in which a plunger, piston, dasher, or other device is to be moved up and down. Such plunger is, by a rod, a, connected with a lever, B, pivoted to a suitable standard. This lever is, on the other side of the pivot-point,
provided with a weight, 0, to counterbalance the weight of the plunger. This end of the lever B is, by a rope or chain, 1), connected with an arm, D, projecting from the upper end of a swinging lever, E,'the lower end of which is also provided with a weight, G, and with handles d (I.
It will readily be seen that verylittle power is necessary to be applied at the weighted end of the lever E for operating the pump or other machine connected with the lever B.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement of the pivoted lever B with weight 0, connecting rope or chain b, arm D, and swinging lever E with Weight Gr, all as herein shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 25th day of June, 1872.
- FRANZ LOUIS BREMER.
