Projecting downwardly from the inside of the cone 20 are four vanes or Wings 30, shown also in Figs. 4 and 6. These, rotating with the cone 20, are for the purpose of propelling the ore toward the center and compelling it to pass up over an up wardly projecting rim 32 so that the ore will pass overthe rim 32 and into the ore flume 34 from which it may be passed out to any desired collecting device. The water and the tailings, together with any ore V which may not have collected on the inside of the rim 24 of the upper separator, Willpass over, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and be finally collected by the rim 28 and passed outthrough a chute-36 ofthe upper separator into the hopper 18 of the lower separator. In the lower receptacle the tailings would pass intoa chute 40 from which they may be sent to any desired point.
In operation, the material s delivered to the fir'st of the hoppers 16 and after passin under the spreading cone therein passes out through the bottom of the hopper and onto the large rotatable cone 20, and proceeds down the cone as the latter rotates. As the material passes down the cone it begins to separate and by the time it reaches the-lower edge of the cone the ore is separated from the tailings. the ore passing inside of the rim 24: while the tailings pass over saidrim and finally through the tailings outlet, while the ore, caught by the rim 24, will pass under the adjustable cone and be propelled inward and upward by means of the rotatable vanes for wings 30 until the ore is compelled to pass through the fiume 34. If the separation in one machine is not sufficientlyffiiie, the outlet directs the tailings into the ho 'Jper of a second separator where the same operation will be repeated only with greater fineness. v
From the foregoing and accompanying drawings, it will be seen that I have invented a very simple ore separator by which I am enabled 'to dispense with any screens, jigs or sludge tables and yet have produced a separator so simple and compact that ordinary attendants can take care of the same, even to the 'e'xtent'of adjusting and repairing it.
It will be obvious that changes be 'made in the form and construction of my invention without departing from thespirit thereof and that thedrawings show the preferable, but not necessary, embodiment, so that reference should be made to the accompanying claims in order to determine the scope of the invention. a V,
What I claim as my invention is; s
1. Ina device of the character described,
