To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRr A. DoUcLAc,
My invention relates to circuit continuing devices and has for its general objects the provision of an improved formation thereof whereby their component parts may readiy and quicklybe assembled by simple and e cient means and may readily be disassembled.
The .invention finds a most useful embodi-` inent in the formation of connecting plugs.
' Thedevice of my invention is inclusive of a contact carrier or core and a jacket therefor with which such core is preferably separably assembled by means of interengaging coupling formations provided upon the jacket and core. The jacket is preferably inclusive of a body portion and -a cap,'the
body portion having coupling engagement with the core while the cap functions to portion andthe core. Current conducting means desirably extends into-the core later- -ally thereof, but to which arrangement the engaging formations provide invention is not to' be limited, and when so of the jacket in the process of their assembly.
By means of the interengaging couplingA formations upon the jacket body and the core is prevented; relative rotary movement of the cap and core -is prevented biy the inter.-
d t ereon; and relative'frotary movement of the cap and body portions of the jacket is prevented b interengaging formations provided upon t @Se PMtS- My invention in all ofits aspects will be fully explained by` reference lto .the accom-1 drawing 'showing the-preferred ,em-
gm g t ent thereof andin which' Figure 1 r illustratesthe circuitsextendin'g plug of my 4'o invention in longitudinal section there being .also Aillustrated afci'rciiit coup er the 1 shell o f whichatlie plug is inserted.;I Fig. is @,f'jaj view on line2-2 ofFig'. 1; F i `31s a f' view-o`i'i line 3--33of Fi 1-11; Fig.l 4 i ustrates component arts of e circuit extending plug of my invention in separated relation;

The circuit extending plug of my invention may be employed in conjunction with any suitable device whereby the plug is instrumental in connecting a--translating device with a circuit that is to supply the translating device with current. Such a device isv shown-'in Fig. 1 and partially in'Fig. 3, the device shown being inclusive of a cylindrical metallic current conducting shell 1 which has bayonet slots 2 at one end for receiving the metallic bayonet pins 3 that roljectfrom the metallic sheath 4: provided about the base'of the lamp 5 and adapted for electrical contact with the shell V1. A'llhis sheath constitutes one terminal of the lamp as the structure illustrated is` a single pole connector. VThis 4lamp base also carries a centrally disposed contact 6 Awhich is insu-,
ing the engagement ofthe contact 9 with thev Acontact 6. The shell 1 is grounded or otherwise'connected with one terminal of a source of current. The contacts-9. and 10 are connectedwith the other terminal of the source of current by a circuit extending plug of my invention. j v
The circuit extending lug of the inven- Vllic'jacket that has a cylindrical metallic. body ortion -11 and a ofl this (jacket and the .metallic shell 1 are provide with interengaging coupling forma- Itions thatare'lreferably in the nature of ugs 13 upon the jacket body with. a'contact carrying` cylindrical core 15 l this'ass'embly being deslrably effected by interengaging' .couphn formations provided 'upo'n thec'ore and jac et bod l and which arel I Apreferably a bayonet pin 1 vvcarriedby the core and a bayonet channel 17 in the acket body. The contact carrier 15 and the Jacket 95 -circular metallic cap portion 12 having 4a cylindrical skirt 121.. The body portion 11. v

prising cap and body'portions, said body and carrier having .interengaging bayonet pin and channel formations permitting said body andcarrier to be slid into engagement by their relative longitudinal movement-and preventing their relative longitudinal movementwhen they are relatively turned after being slid into engagement, the cap and body. having interengaging formations permitting their relative longitudinal movement and preventing their relative turning movement; and means for fastening the cap and carrier together to prevent their relative turning movement to prevent the body and carrier from turning `relatively and to. prevent relative longitudinal" movement of thev carrier and cap to hold the cap and body in assembly. v
p 2. A circuit continuing device including a contact carrier; a jacket for the carrier comprisingbody and cap portions, said bodyand carrier having interengaging formations permitting their relative turning movement and preventing their relative longitudinal movement, the cap and bodyhaving interengaging .formations permitting their relative longitudinal movement and preventing their relative turning movement; and
means for fastening the cap and carrier together to prevent their relative turning movement to prevent the body and carrier from turning relatively and to prevent relative longitudinal movement o and 'cap to hold the cap and body in assembly.
AA circuit continuing device includinga l contact carrier; a jacket for the carrier comprising cap and body portions, said body and carrier having interengaging` bayonet pin and channel formations permitting said body and carrier to be slid into engagement by their relative longitudinal .movement and preventing their relative longitudinal movement when they are. relative yp. turned after being slid into engagement, the cap and body. having interengaging formations perturning relatively. 4. A circuit continuing device including a contact carrier; a jacket foi; the carrier com mitting their relative longitudinal movement and preventing their relative turning movement; and means for preventing relative turning l movement between the cap and' carrier to prevent the body and carrier from 'ing movement, these intere Y tions preventing relative longitudinal move prising body and cap portions, said' body and carrier having interengaging formations permitting their relative turning movement and preventing their relative longitudinal movement, the cap and body having interengaging formationsi permitting their relative longitudinal movement and preventing their relative turning movement;
and means 4for preventing relative turning movement between-the ca and carrier. to prevent the body and carrier from turning relatively.
5. A circuit continuing device including a contact carrier; a jacket for the carrier comprising body and cap portions, said body and "carrier having .interengaging formations which, in one adjustment, .permit their formations permitting their from turning relatively and to prevent relative longitudinal movement of the carrier and cap the carrierv to hold the capv and -body in assembly.
6. A circuit continuing deviceincluding a contact carrier; a jacket for the carrier comprising body and lcap portions, said body and carrier having interengaging formations which, in one adjustment, permit their vrelative longitudinal movement and, in another adjustment, permit their relative turn aging formament of said body and carrier when they are relatively turned, the cap and body having interengaging formations permitting their relative lon tudinal movement 'and preventing their re ative turning movement;
and means for preventing relative movement between the ca and carrier to prevent Athe body" and carrier freniv 105` relatively.
