To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT GREENFIZELD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Billiard-Cues, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in billiard cues, and has for its object the provision of an improved grip for the handle thereof.

The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of arts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which,

The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawing, comprises an ordinary tapering billiard cue having a cylindrical portion 6 turned on the handle portion thereof and a shoulder 7 formed by an enlargement at the handle end of the cylindrical portion 6 as indicated. By this arrangement the portions of the tapered part of the cue toward the tip end from said cylindrical portion are all smaller than the cylindrical portion, so that the body portion of the one may be completely turned and then the grip added by sliding the same into position over the tapered tip end. A cylindrical grip sleeve 8 formed of fiber composition material is rovided with a knurled surface to afford a good hand grip and is Copies of this of a size to fit snugly over the cylindrical portion 6 of the one and abut against the shoulder 7 The tip end of the sleeve 8 is beveled at 9 to give a finished'appearance and avoid an abrupt shoulder at this point.

The bore of the sleeve 8 is of a sufficient, size to readily fit over the tip end of the one 5 and snugly fit the cylindrical portion 6, the same being secured in position thereon by means of glue. By this arrangement a good grip is afi'orded for the hand or fingers of the player and an ornamental appearance imparted to the cue.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departingfrom the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A billiard cue comprising a tapered body portion and a cylindrical handle portion, said cylindrical portion being equal in diameter to the adjacent portion of the tapered body portion, and a shoulder formed on the butt-end of the handle portion, in combination with a composition grip element adapted to be slipped over the tapered body portion and snugly engaging the handle portion, substantially as described.
