Be it known that I, FRANK H. GATHER- COAL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wilmette, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.

My invention relates to improvements in games and has for its object the production of a device by means of which a number of games may be played with one board and the men and pins necessary therefor are always attached to the game board.

A further object is the production of a device of cheap and simple construction.

These and such other objects as may hereinafter appear are attained by my device,

an embodiment of which is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 represents a front View of my device;

Fig. 2 is a rear view of my device; and

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the pins and checkers used in the game.

Like numerals of reference indicate like parts in the several figures of the drawing.

Referring now to the drawing, 4 represents the game board, one side of which is divided off into a plurality of squares 5, making it in effect a checker board. On the opposite side of the board a number of holes 6 are formed whereby a number of games may be played by the use of pins 7. Checkers'8 are used in playing the games on the front face of the board. Near the ec go of the board, preferably at one corner, is an opening 9, through which is passed a string 10 secured to one of the lower corners of a receptacle 11, preferably of cloth in the form of a bag. The draw-string 13 passes through a hem 12 in the top of the bag making it possible to close the opening and prevent the escape of the pins and checkers contained therein.

in army camps and is of convenient size to fit within the pockets of the soldiers and the fact that the pins are in a sense removably secured to the board renders it impossible for them to be lost. Of course, other forms of receptacles and methods of securing same to the board may be utilized, but this would come within the scope of my invention.

It will be observed that the flexible drawstring 13 is in the form of a closed loop and that this loop, when the mouth of the bag is closed, is just long enough to engage over the corner of the board diagonally opposite to the corner in which the hole 9 for the anchoring cord is placed, thereby utilizing the draw-string as a means of clamping the bag against one face of'the board and preventing the bag dangling about and becomin open.

aving thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A device of the class described,comprising a game board, one side being ruled into squares and adapted for the playing of certain games, movable pieces adapted to be used in connection with the said squares, a plurality of holes passing part way through the opposite side, pins adapted to fit withinsaid holes, a receptacle swingingly attached to said board and adapted to contain said movable pieces, and means for closing the mouth of said receptacle.

2. A game board rectangular in shape, a bag for the reception of the game pieces to be used with the board, a device'anchoring the bag to one corner of the board, and a closed-loop draw-string for the mouth of the bag, this string loop being adapted to engage over the corner of the board diagonally opposite to the point of attachment of the bag to the board to thus clamp the bag against one face of the board and hold the bag closed.
