Be it known that 1, CHARLES R. STEVEN- soN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mishap-aka, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hanger- Supports for Trunks, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in trunks and itmore especially comprises the features pointed out in the annexed claims.

T he purpose of my invention is to provide a self-contained garment hanger support whit-his light, compact, economical to'make; that largely uses standard metal parts; that, whether used singly or in pairs is free from all accessories; that will positively without sliding the hangers bring outthe entire lot at one pull; that combines the hanger plate with an internally sliding track extension; and that maintains the alinementof the pull out feature to the hangerswithout complex means ith these and other ends in view 1 illustrate in the accompanying drawing such instances of adaptation as will disclose the broad features without limiting myself to the specific details shown.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged transverse section of the parts supported by a side bracket formed as a sheet metal stamping.

Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 substituting a solid extension rod for the tube of Fig.

Fig. L is a diagrammatic front elevation of a pair of supports placed in a trunk and connected with a transverse bar.

While 1 instance the adaptation of my improvement to use onthe sides of a trunk, it is quite obvious that, if desired I may attach the same to the under side of the trunk top.

A stamped support ordinarily made right and left hand has a fastening portion, 3, an offset part, 4, a support, 5, and a roll, 6. Within the roll a tubular extension, 8, may be placed. The front end thereof may have a suitable plug, 16, suitably held therein. The tube, 8, abuts the enlarged diameter 17, which serves as a seat for the supplemental hanger plate, 12. This abuts against flange, 18. A suitable knob, 19,

may have its stem, 21, riveted into the plug, 16, and it may also hold a connecting bar, 20, in place. The plate, 12, may be of segmental cross section so as to form a round surface on which the hangers restand at the same time provide greater stiffness. If desired the plate, 12, may rest directly on the roll, 6, in which case the guiding ring, 1 1, would be secured on the top of the plate. The rear end of this plate is bent up at 13, to form a pull out projection in front of which hangers, are placed.

The movement of the plate, 12, is simultaneous to that of the tube, 8, and both are limited by the depending end, 15, of 1 1, engaging a pressed up or otherwise formed. stop, 11. If desired, 12, may be secured to 17, by meansof screws.

If desired 1 may use 1 solid extension rod, 7, as instanoed in Fig. 3, instead of the tubes, 8, shown in Fig. 2-, in which case the knob, 19, may be screwed or otherwise I fastened to 17 and any small distance piece placed between 12, and. rod 7, at the front end where they are fastened to each other which will sufliciently raise, 12, to accommodate, 6, therebetween. When a solid rod, 7, is used, the roll, 6, may have a slot, 9, into which apin, 10, may project, the same engaging stop 11, and performing the same function as end, 15, of ring, 14.

It is immaterial as to the kind of side or I other support that is used whether stamped,

rolled, cast, etc. It will be seen that my device is simple and positive in action with little likelihood of any portions becoming displaced or 111-0P6T3UV6 under the ordinary serviee conditions to which articles of this kind are subjected.

What I claim is:

1. In a trunk, a hollow one-piece track having a slot formed therein lengthwise thereof, a slidable extension within the track, a slotted member slidable outside of the track, a limit stop near the forward end of the track adapted to define the extreme forward movement of the slidable extension, a knob secured to the forward end of the slidable extension, a supplementary slide forming a garment hanger support attached to the slotted member and the knob, and a projection therefrom at its rear end adapted to move all garment hangers that may be found on the slide forward into an accessible and means for limiting the movement of the interconnected slidable parts.

In a trunk, a combined one-piece support and track, having a slot formed lengthwise thereof on the under side of the track a portion, a stop projection extending into the slot near its forward end, a track extension comprising internal and external parts, means for securing the said parts to each other at the frontend, a split ring slidable on the outside of the track secured to the external part at the rear end thereof and adapted to engage the stop aforesaid to prevent the, extreme accidental Withdrawal of the track extension and an upwardly extending projection at the rear end of the external part adapted to engage any garment hangers that may be found in front of the same.

means for securing them to each other at the front end, a slotted guide one end of Which extends into the range of the track slot, means for securing the guide and the outside part of the extension at the rear end thereof to each other, and a vertical projection formed above the guide the same being adapted to engage garment hangers placed on the outside part in front said projection.

5. In a. trunk, a hollow slotted guiding track, a stop at the front end. thereof, a garment hanger carrying,member slidable adjacent the upper side of the track, a support i ng member attached at its front end to said carrying member and slidable Within the track, both constituting a track extension, a rear guide secured to the carrying member and slidable on the outside of the track, project-ions therefrom, one of which is adapted independently to engage garment hangers formed on the carrying member and the other to engage the stop aforesaid.
