the accompanying drawing.
line 22 of Fig. 1.
My invention relates to certain improvements in window screens. and has for its principal object to "provide a new and improved method of screening and curtaining windows, especially windows of bungalows, beach cottages, and other dwellings.
" One of the objects of my invention is to provide a screen t at can be moved from one room to another to be readily used on other Windows and which can be quickly rolled up a sufficient distance to allow of mops, dusters and other articles shaken out of the lower or upper portion of the window.
Another object is the providing of a screen of cotton mosquito netting entirely closing the window and so adapted'as at all times to fit close to the sides of the window and the top and bottom ofwindow to prevent the entrance'of flies and other insects and bugs.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts which will be fully understood by reference to the description of the drawings and to the'claims hereinafter given. V
Of the drawings: Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a window withflmy device attached,'b-roken away centrally of itswidth and length in order to more clearly illustrate on a larger scale the details of my invention. Fig. 2 is a'sectional view on the d Fig. 3 is a front elevation of a modified form of part of the invention. Fi 1 is a side sectional elevation of the modi ed form shown in Fig. 3 d 1 Similar characters designate like parts throughout the several figures ofthe drawin s. .1
lliatitude is allowed herein as to details, as they may be changed or varied at will withoutdeparting from the spirit of myinven Specification of Letters Patent.

'tion and the same yet remainintact and be protected.
In the drawings'erepresents the window casing, 6 the window, of which further details is deemed unnecessary. 'The' other characters refer to my invention, of which 7 represents a fiat oblong board adaptedto extend across the top of the Window and casing and held in place by anydesirable means, as for example, screw eyes 8 adapted to slip over screw hooks 9, the former V edge of board and the latter into the casing above'the window. This board is preferably curved or beveled on its lower front edge and carries on its under side the bearings 11 in .which is V mounted the roller 12, for the purposes herelnafter stated.
The board 7 carries on the upper part of its front face a pair of ordinary window curtain brackets 13 in which revolves the curtain roller 14:; the roller and. its brackets being of the common type used for window curtains, the
roller being provided with the spring as is common in such rollers and with the ordinary type of spring lock in one of the brackets 13. This roller 14 carries. a screen 5 of common mosquito netting provided with the tape edge 16 and reinforced at its lower edge with a wide strip oflinen' or cotton cloth 0r canvas 17 provided across its top with the metal rod 19 and across its lower edge with the ordinary curtain stick 18, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.. If may be of copper wire or other material.
If desired, the screen may be provided with the common type of curtain tassel or handle to raise'and lower the screen and I have preferably shown on the drawings screw eyes 21 screwed into thecurtain "stick 18'adapted to fit upon the screw hooks 22 in the lower side of the window casing beneath the window 6. As some types of locks in the curtain roller brackets only allow the curtain to rest at certain distances I extend the rod 19 and the stick l8 beyond the edges of the tape 16 and provide elastic bands'or springs 20 to engage these extended edges the roller 12Tandits bearings provided an oblong slot 26,
several claims are mtended to be and thus take up any slack in the screen at the sides, so that these sides are brought tight up against the window casing 5.
The board 7 also carries on its front surface-atpointsbeneath the brackets 13, a pair of similar brackets 23, but these brackets may be of any other style or type and may have slightly. longer arms, as, shown in Fig. 2, so that the window shade 25 carried by the roller 24 mounted in the brackets 23, when rolled up will not interfere with the rolling up ordown of -the screen 15. In Figs. 1 and 2 the window shade 25 is broken away across its lower portion. As clearly shown in these :two figures, the screen 15 extends between th'e'bottom of the board 7 and the roller .12., passing, by the beveled or curved edge 10 and therefore thescreen is held its entire length, from the roller 12 down to the hooks 22 tight against the window casing, and the window 6 is tightly scr'ee nedli The shade and the screen can be lquicklyrolled up and the board removed to another window. '25 i In the modifiedform of the board, shown in ,Figs. 3 and 4:, "and which is accheaper formbf board arrangement, 1 have left ofi in the lower'portion of the: board, which is a little wider than the width of the screen. This slot 26 extends through the board 7? downwardly from the front to rear,-the edges of the slot being preferably beveled or curved to cause less wear on the screen and prevent breakage and therear portion of the board"? be- .neath the slot is cut away as shown in Fig. 2
to allow the board to be 'fiush against the window casing and yet give sufficient-passageway for the screen.
It is to be understood that my invention -.is not limited to the specific details of construction shown in the accompanying drawings, but that in the practical carrying out of my invention. Itlis also to be understood that the combinations specifically setforth in the separately claimed withoutrlimitgition to the use'in connection therewith of other features and de tails of construction illustrated.
It isbelieved that the operation and many advantages of the inventionwill be thoroughly .understood from the foregoing descriptions.
Having thus fully described the nature, construction and operation of my invention, I claimand desire to secure by Letters Patent-- '60 ,..sisting of aremovable board adapted .to be -hung at the top of a window casing, aroller screen: mounted-on theboard A device for screening windows con and meansv for 11, but have .tain stick edge, a rod carried said details may be varied '=t,he upper part .of th reinforcgmentyand holding the sides .of the screen when un rolled fiat against the window casing.
2. A device for screening windows consisting of a removable board adapted to be suspended from the upper part of-a window casing having a runway and a roller screen mounted on the board and passing rearwardly; through the/tramway against the window casing.
3. A device for screening windows consisting of an oblong removable board adapted to b'ehung on screw the screen whenunrolled.
t. A screeningdevice consisting of .aportable board normally. suspended on-hooks in the :upper part of a window, casing .and'in stantly removable therefrom, a window hade mounted on its lowenp-ortion, a screen mounted on a rotatable support-carried by the board above-the-shade butwadaptedto pass downward rearward of, the shade, and
means for passing the screen" rearwardly and holding it tight -.ag ainst-the; upper portion of the window-casing.
5. A window. screen ,portably mounted on' a board, means for holdingthe screen when in positionona window casing-tight, against the sides of, theecasing, 7 means for holding the screen; tightacross the-top of-the window casing and means for, secur-in'g the lower edge of-the screen against the lower edge of the-window casing.
6. A window screencons1sting of an oblong board havinga runwayin its lower portion,- a screen mounted: on the board and passing downward throughthe runway having einforced ides and. bottom edge, a curcarried by the reinforced bottom by 'this'bottom edge at tom ofithe board, a roller creenimounted on-a front face ofthe' board and passing downward between thebottom .of the board and the roller and screw eyes for securing lowing it together with the roller and zI'OllBI' screen mounted onthe'board :to be} instantly removed 'from the, window-casing;
. .8. Aiwindowscreeningdevice consisting of aportableboardmeans for securingsthe board in place above a curtain rollermounted on c-ethe upper front theboard' in place-above a 'window and alwindow, a roller mounted on the 'lowersideoftheuboard, a
face :ofcthe' board, ascreenfearried :byethe roller and adapted to pass downward around the lower roller to be held by the roller against the front upper side of a window casing, a window shade mounted on the board beneath the screen curtain roller and forward of the screen, and means carried by the screenfor holding it tight in place against the sldes and bottom edge of the In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
