SANITARY some-CONTAINER.
specification or Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 13,1918.
Application filed February 1, 1917. Serial No. 145,992.
g To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN H. PURCELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ono, in the county of Shasta, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Soap- Containers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this application. Y
This invention relates to improvements in containers used for holding and dispensing soap for domestic use, the object of the invention being to produce a container in which the soap may be retained or dis' pensed in solution as needed.
A further object of the invention is to so construct the same that the full value of all i soap may be had with nowaste, also, one in which the strength of the soap solution can be controlled at will.
A still further object of the invention is to provide means whereby there will bel no dripping or draining on the outside of the container when not in use and which means will also prevent the soap from leaving the container when the water is being drained from the same.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of parts as will fully appear by Va perusal of the following specication and claims.
The figure of the drawing is a perspective view of my improved container.
Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings the numeral 1 designates the container proper which may beA of any desirable form b-ut preferably in the shape of a cup, provided with a handle 2 and an orifice 3, or other suitable means for hanging the same upon a hook or handle.
At a spaced distance from the bottom of the container I provide a plurality of openings 4 disposed in spaced relation completely around the sides of the container. These openingsare made by pressing the side of the container inwardly as at -5 which depressed sides form overhanging guards over all of the openings 4 to prevent any dripping or draining from the container through these openings. These guards 5 likewise act as stops to prevent the soap from slipping out of the container when the water is being drained therefrom.
In practice the soap is placed in the container below the openings 4 so when it is desired to make use of the same the water, either hot or cold as ma \,7 be desired, is filled in the container l and the container 1 is then suitably agitated to dissolve the soap to make'it in a solution with the water. This solution passes out through the openings 4 onto the dishes, fabrics or other materials desired. The strength of the solution may be controlled at will by pouring more vor less water into the container. When as much of the solution is used as is desired the balance is then suitably drained through the openings 4 and the outside of the container is then wiped oft and no further dripping or drainage can come out of the same. The container is then suitably placed out of the way by engaging the hole 3 with the support, hook or nail.
As can be readily seen by the use of my container Ythere will be no waste of the soap and any small particle of the soap whiclr breaks od from the cake proper will adhere to the other parts when wet and willy not be lost as is so often the case when soap is used without the use of a container.
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the object of the invention as set forth herein.
While this specification sets forth in detail. the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention as defined by the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A soap container comprising a receptacle provided with a plurality of openings in its sides disposed in spaced relation and at a solution, the" receptacle b'engthfen tippedv to drain the Solution therefrom, and overhangmg guards on the melde ofthe recep tacle projecting toward thel'b'ottom thereof to act as stops and prevent the soapfrom falling out of the receptacle when same is tipped to drain the solution therefrom. 10
:[11tesimony whereof affix my signature. f JOHN PURCELL.
