A ball valve 19 is arran ed for limited and is formed of rubber, porcelain, brass or other desirable material being adapted for assistance .in seating by reason of its own weight. A middle Section 12 is threaded to the upper section 11 of the plunger 43, having e bolt slidably arranged therethrough axially of the" plunger :and C rovided -with a squared head 47 arrange' within vthe rectangular chamber 16 in the bottom of'the section 11 while a packing 17 is interposed between the head 47 and the upper end of the chamber 16.

A valve comprising a goblet-shaped casing having an inlet passage in the stem portion thereof and outlet ports through the wall of the cup portion of the same, an extension carried by the cup portion of said casing having an axial bore, a cage depending from the said extension within said cup portion, a valve seat member secured in the bottom of said cup portion extending inwardly of the cage and having a passage therethrough in alinement with said inlet passage, an annular depending apron carried by said cup portion of the casing, forming a chamber between said cup and apron with an annular outlet at the lower end thereof, a sound insulator carried by the inner face of said apron outwardly of the said ports and a shiftable cushioned controlling means for said valve seat arranged within the said bore.

A valve comprising a cup casing having an inlet in the bottom thereof and radial outlets through the sides of the same, a tubular extension carried by said casing, a cage depending from said extension, a valve loosely and shiftably arranged within the said cage, a cushioned plunger shiftably arranged within said extension and cage and controlling means for said plunger.
6. A controlling plunger for valves, comprising an upper section having a rectangular chamber in the bottom thereof, a packing at the inner end of said chamber, an intermediate section carried by said upper section, a bolt slidabl arranged through said intermediate section with a squared head positioned within said chamber adjacent said packing, a lower section secured to said bolt having a bottom engaging face and a shock-absorbing washer carried by the bolt between said lower and intermediate sections.
7. A reciprocating valve plunger comprising an upper section, an intermediate section rigidly and removably secured thereto, a lower section shiftably attached to said intermediate section and having a Vbottom engaging face, a r:ushioning member arranged between said intermediate and lower sections, the said intermediate and lower sections being normally separated a greater distance than the thickness of said cushioning member.
8. A plunger member comprisin an upper socketed section, an interme late section removably attached to said upper section, a cushion Within said socket, an attaching member comprising a bolt shiftably carried by said intermediate section, normally spaced from the said cushion, a lower section having an engaging face secured to the said bolt and resilient means upon said bolt between said intermediate and lower sections, the said bolt being adapted for engagement with said cushion upon the reduction in thickness of said resilient member during the wearing of the device.
9. A sound-reducing valve structure comprsing a cup casing having an inlet passage and radial outlet ports, a cylindrical sound insulation means arranged outwardly of said ports, a valve for said inlet passage, a plunger arranged adjacent said valve, the said plunger being formed of loosely connected sections and sound cushioning members between the sections of the plunger.
