Be it known that I, ERNEST F. CIGLIA, a .citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Casings for Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention relates to casings and more especially to casings for holding toilet articles.

In the embodiment shown, there is provided a suitable frame member for the casing C comprising a main wall member 11, a front wall member 12 and a rear end wall member 13. Extending from the ends of the main wall member 11 and beyond the end wall members 12 and 13 there are provided fastening tongues 14 each having an opening for fastening means such as a screw 15 or the like by means of which the frame member may be secured to the wall 16 of a room. The main wall member 11 and end wall members 12 and 13 are preferably composed of a single piece of sheet metal properly folded and cut to the desired conformation. The main supporting wall .member 11 preferably has an upper flange 17 and a lower flange 18 extending at right angles to the main body portion of the wall member 11. The front end wall member 12 is provided with flanges 19 extending toward the end wall member 13 and lapping over the flanges 17. and 18 of the main supporting wall member 11. Properly secured to the flanges 19, the front end wall member 12 is provided with a flange 20 also extending toward the rear end wall member 13. The rear end wall member13 is similarly pro vided with flanges 21 extending toward the front end wall member 12 and lapping over the flanges 17 and 18 of the/main supporting wall member 11, the upper of which flanges 21 is provided with a series of perthe remaining longitudinal walls of the cas ing are transparent and composed of a sheet of celluloid 25 or the like bent at 26 and 27 to form'three longitudinal wall members, the ends of which are secured to the inside of the flanges of the wall members 11 12 and 13. The ends of the celluloid 25 dis osed under the perforations 22 and 24 of the flanges 21 and 23 are perforated so as to permit the passage of air into and out of the casing through the perforations 22' and 24.

The casing illustrated is especially adapt ed to hold atoilet article such as a tooth brush For this purpose, the front end wall member 12 isprovided with an opening 28 having an elongated upwardly exten ing narrow portion 29 and an augmented lower portion 30, the portion 29 being adapted to accommodate and ermit the passage there- I through of the bristles 31 of a tooth brush 32 while the lower portion 301 is adapted to accommodate and permit the passage there-' through of the frame portion 33 of such tooth brush 32. To securely anchor such tooth brush in the casing C, a spring memher 34 is provided having clamping arms 35 between which a brush is clamped when disposed in said casing. The spring member 34 has a portion of it secured to the rear end wall member 13 while its clamping arms 35 are free and extend toward the front end wall member 12, such arms 35 being curved inwardly at their middle portions and each having a struck out tongue 36. When the supporting arms 35 engage the brush 32, the

opening 28 is preferably arranged in the front end wall member 12 so that its lower augmented ortion 30 is adjacent to the lower end 0 the front wall member and the upper end of such opening is spaced from {he upper end of said front end wall memert In the upper portion of the casing C, there is preferably provided a substance such as a disinfectant, deodorizer, germicide, or the like for treating the brush contained in such casing. For this purpose, there is provided an opening 37 in the portion of the front end wall member above the opening 28. Through this opening 3?, the substance for treating the brush is introduced into the casing C, and for anchoring the same in ,The, substance for treat ng the brush is usually light in weight and thus these clamping flanges are entirely adequate for anchor? ing such substance. For containing the brush treating substance, there is' preferably provided an envelop 40 such as illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6, which comprises essentially an upper elongated portion 41, and a lower perforated portion 42 between" which portions an absorbent material 43 such as cotton or the like may be disposed, which absorbent material in the well-known manner is saturated with the substance for treating 'the brush. The envelop 40 when located in the casing C has its upper portion 41 disposed adjacent the upper wall member of the casing G and its lower perforated portion 42 facing the brush. Theenvelop 40 is preferably composed of a light substance such as celluloid or the like,

It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made to the details of construction without departing from thesaid casing for properly securing said tooth brush in place,-said anchoring means comprising clamping arms between which the tooth brush is secured, and tongues struck out from such clamping arms for'engaging the bristles of the tooth brush while the main portions of said clamping arms "engage the frame of said tooth brush.

Acasing for holding'toilet brushes comprising a casing having a rear end wall provided with ventilating erforations, a front end wall provided witlli a perforation for the entrance of the brush also providing ventilation, and a second. erforation; an envelop containin a brus v treating substance adapted to e remoyably secured in the casing by being passed in through the second perforation in the end wall; a resilient spring means for securing-the envelop, and like means for securin the brush,- in the casing against accidental isplacement.
