The shaft 46, however, is free to rock within this sleeve. A series of brackets or collars 72 are fixed to the sleeve 7 O and a series of sheet guiding bands 73 are provided with doubled offset portions 74 which are riveted together and the outer looped ends of which encircle the rod 49.

As above noted, the interme iate trip arm 48 may be held in such position by the cam 47, that in the normal position of the cylinder the grippers will be held released but will engage the forward edge of the paper as soon as the initial movement of the cylinder disengages the roller 51 from theinclined cam face 50. The cylinder is then rotated to shift the bed and carry the paper on the cylinder into engagement with the type on the bed. At the end of a single revolution of the cylinder in forward direction, the grippers 30 are released either by hand or automatically and the paper is removed from the cylinder.
