To all whom it mayconcern Nicnon, a citizen of the i Dominion of; Canada, res1ding at N'OkOIIllS, 1n theProvlnce of Saskatchewan, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful. Improvements.inHouse-MovingDevices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,andex act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilledin the art towh ich it appertains to make and use the 7 same.
This inventionrelates to improvements in devices. for moving portable. granaries,
One object ofthe present invention is to rovide a device of this character which can be operated to move a building without the aid of the largenumber of men and animals usually employed with previous devices of this nature.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which can be. more quickly and efliciently placed under the edges of a building, and by means of which the build-' ing can be raised into position for moving.
A further objectis to. provide a novel shoe which is used in connection with the jacks of the device for the purpose of preventing the jacks fromdigging into the ground as the building is moved.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings 10 represents an upright having a vertical elongated slot 11 formed therethrough in the lower portion thereof. One side wall of this slot is formed with a series of rack teeth 12. A forwardly extending horizontal foot 13 is formed on the lower end of this upright, as shown. ends-the feet 15 similar to the foot l3,;and in-parallel relation to each other and to the said footl3. Asecond upright is disposed behind the first one, and in parallel relation thereto, said second upright being formed, in its lower portion with an elongated slot 16, one wallofwhich is formed withrack teeth 17. A shaft 18 is disposed through theslots of the uprights and carries on its end portions the pinions l9 and 20, respectively which mesh with the respective rack teeth 12 and 17 of the uprights. On the end of the shaft, adjacent the pinion 20 there is secured a worm wheel or pinion2l which meshes with a worm shaft 22 mounted in brackets 23 on the upright 10 The end of this shaft is provided with a crank handle by means of. which said shaft may be rotatedJ A ratchet wheel 24 is rigidly secured to. thesaid worm'shaftand is arranged to be engaged by the pawl25 carried by the lever 26. which is loosely mounted on said shaft. Braces 27 connect the upright 10 with the lower ends. of the inclined braces, as clearly shown in the drawings. Secured on the said feet of the. upright 10 and the braces 14, is a platform 28, and on thisplatformone edge offthe bottom of. the granary 29, or: other building is adapted to rest, while being moved from one place to another. On the before'mentioned shaft there is mounted a large and broad threaded wheel which is adapted to engage on the ground to move the building, this wheel being represented by the reference character 30.
Rotatably mounted between the upright 10 and one of the inclined braces, is a winding drum 31 on which is wound one end of a chain 32. A crank handle 33 and pawl and ratchet means 34 are provided for the purpose of rotating said drum.
The chain 32 is passed under the house, the ends being connected to and wound on the drums 31, whereby the two trucks will be held in proper position at the sides of the house and thus efiiciently support and carry the house.
From the drawing it will be understood that there are two of the devices above deconnected between said plates. The rear end of the lower plate is connected to the forward ends of the platforms of the two trucks by means of the chains 37, while the forward end of the upper plate is reduced, as at 38 and disposed through an opening 39 in the upturned forward end of the lower plate. This reduced end is adapted to be connected to draft animals.
7 In the operation of the device, the trucks are placed at the sides of the building slightly to the rear of the middle thereof, and the shoe under the front of the house. The worm shaft is then rotated to turn the shaft which carries the wheel whereby the engagement of the pinions of the shaft will ride up on the racks of the uprights and lift the house above its foundation, said house thus being supported on the platforms. The animals are then hitched to the forward end of the upper plate of the shoe. Forward pull on the upper plate will swing the same upwardly on the connecting links and raise the front end of the house. This end will then be supported on the shoe and the house prevented from tilting downwardly in the front with the result that the forward ends of the platform of the trucks are prevented from digging into the ground over which the trucks are moving.
It will be noted that when the upper plate of the shoe is swung upwardly and forwardly to support the front end of the house, the wider portion engages with a pair of upstanding stop lugs 40 carried by the lower plate, thereby preventing said upper plate from moving forwardly and again letengaging member and a ground engaging member, and movably connected spacing.

A house moving device including supporting wheeled trucks, and a shoe for supporting the front end of a house, said shoe including a lower or ground engaging plate, an upper or house engaging plate, links pivotallyconnecting the plates, the forward end of the lower plate being-formed with an opening, the forwardend of the upper plate being reduced and engaged in said opening, said reduced end being adapted for attachment of draft animals, stop lugs on the lower plate for engagement by the upper plate, and connections between the lower plate and the said trucks.
