a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Montbliard, Doubs, intheltepublic of France, have invented certaln new and usean Improvementsin Safety-Locks; and do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. i l
The present invention relates to acornbination lock capable ofbeing readily applied to a piece of furniture, acupboard or other suitable locality- -The lIlVGIltlOIL is shown in a preferred form in the; accompanying drawing wherein Figure 1 1s a verti'cal section of the lock in locked position, Fig. 2 is a section on AB in Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a sectional view'similar to Fig. 1, but showing the device in unlocked pos1t1on, Fig. 4 is a rear elevation in unlocked position with the socketcarrying disk removed,

The front disk at which is suitably numbered for indication of combinations, as shown in Fig. 5, has a central circular rear hub m. A revoluble pin 9 is centrally placed in this hub and has a recess 7*. This pin may be turned in its socket atwill by inserting a screw driver in the slot shown atthe left in'Fig. 3.
Around the hub m are fitted flat annular disks or tumblers, Z, Z Z lying one on the other. Each of the disks Z, Z and Z is provided with a hole oi proper size and so placed that the three holes can be brought into registry with each other directly behind the stem (Z to permit said stem to be thrust into said holes for unlocking, as shown inFig. 3.

notch 0 placed so that all three notches may be made to register over the outer edge of .a plug 9 of Wedge shape, riding in a groove it having f an inclined bottom and formed in the periphery of the hub m.
The registering of the notches 0 occurs when the holes for receiving the stem cl are in the position shown in Fig. 3.
hen the device is in locked position (Fig. 1) and the notches 0 are out of alinement, the plug 9 is forced back into a recess in the milled disk 6, thus locking said disk and preventingoperation of the main lock, both by preventing action of the wheel 6 directly and by preventing movement of the stem (Z by reason of the holes intended to receive it being out of registry.
When the disks Z, Z and Z are turned, however, into the position shown in Fig. 3,
the notches 0 are in alinement, and, owing 6 acts when the disk is turned, to force back theplug up the inclined bottom it, so that its upper edge enters the alined notches 0. Thisis shown in Fig.
The requisite movements of the annular disks, for bringing them into unlocked'po sition are accomplished by the projections 1, 2 and 3, respectively,-on the peripheries of the outer ringsi, i and i and by transmission of this movement from each ring to the disk within it by the respective dogs 70 and k The numerals around the front-plate shown in Fig. 5, guide this action.
'When the device is locked and the stem d has been thrust fully forward and out of engagement with the disks, these latter are turned in such a direction as to drive the inclined sides of the notches 0 against the edge of the plug g, thus forcing said plug back into the disk 0 as shown in Fig. 1.
To change the combination, the central pin g is turned to permit movement of the dogs is, 7.2 and 70 inward, thus permitting the outer rings to be brought into new positions, after which the dogs are again pushed outward into engagement with new notches in the outer rings.
Obviously more than three sets of disks and rings might be used and various changes might be made in this device without departing from the scope of my invention, as I do not limit myself to the details herein shown and described.

In a combination look, a bolt, an actuating device adapted to move said bolt for locking and unlocking, a revoluble locking disk adapted to oppose direct resistance to the unlocking movement of said bolt and means for locking said actuating device controllable by movement of said revoluble locking disk, substantially as described.
2. In a combination look, a bolt, a revoluble disk adapted to actuate the same for locking and unlocking, revoluble tumbler disks, and a movable plug adapted to lock said actuating disk, said plug being controlled by the positions of said tumbler disks, substantially as described.
3. In a combination look, a bolt, a revolubledisk adapted to actuate the same for locking and unlocking, a central hub having a recess in its periphery which recess has an inclined bottom, a plug slidable in said recess and adapted to engage said disk, and tumbler disks revolubly mounted upon said hub and having notches capable of being placed in alinement over said recess in the hub, substantlally as described.

In a look, a hollow socket, a carrier slidably mounted therein, and having a threaded stem, a locking disk in front of said carrier and stem, a tilting bolt pivoted to saidcar *ier, and an actuating disk threaded upon said stem, between said locking disk and said tilting bolt and having a portion of its periphery extending outward for purposes of manipulation, substantially as described.

In a combination lock, a central hub, an annular disk revolubly mounted thereon, an outer ring mounted to revolve around said disk and having a series of internal notches, a dog slidably mounted in said disk and adapted to engage any one of said notches, and a revoluble pin in said hub having a recess adapted to receive one end of said dog, substantially as described.
9. In a combination lock, a central hub provided with a disk bearing a series of conventional signs such as numerals, a plurality of disks revolubly mounted on said hub, a slidably mounted dog on each disk, a
