This invention relates to paper bottles, one of its objectsbeing to provide a container, the mouth portion of which isprovided with a bendable metallic clip which ordinarily serves to hold the mouth in an open position, but which can be compressed so as to hold the mouth of the bottle-closed or collapsed, thus to retain the contentsl of ythe bottle. f

Another object is to provide a Structure of this character which is simple 'and efiicient'in construction and which permits the use of ordinary bottle caps or thelike to be dispensed with.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear` as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without de arting from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates a paper container of any desired configuration but preferably formed with a reduced neck portion 2 the mouth of which is surrounded by a metal ring 3. The paper forming the neck portion of the bottle is bent outwardly and downwardly about the ring 3 as shown particularly in Fig. 1 so as thus to conceal said ring. The ring is formed of a metal which is sufficiently stiff to hold the'mouthI portion of the container open under ordinary conditions. After the container has been filled and it is desired toseal the same, the mouth portion of said, container is flattened by bending the ring. The ring is of such material that after it has been thus flattened or bent, it will not open outand, consequently, the opposed portions of the wall of the mouth of the container will be held tightly together and the escape of any por-v tion of the contents of the container 1s prevented.

Should the container hold a material likely to ferment,a ring such as shown in Figs. 5 and 6 should be used. This ring is similar to the ring 3 with the exception that it has a prong 4 struck therefrom and extending inwardly into the neck of the bottle. An opening 5 is formed in the bottle neck and ring diametrically opposite the prong and when the neck is {iattened for the purpose of sealing the container, this prong will pass into the opening 5 and can then be bent back as shown at 6 in Fig. 6, thereby to hold the opposed portions of the flattened neck tightly together so that they will not spread apart.

What is claimed is:-

A paper container having a bendable substantially non-elastic metal ring extending around the mouth portion thereof for hold` ing said mouth portion normally open, said ring, when fiattened, constituting means for holding opposed portion of the end of the mouth in contact, thereby to seal the container.
