To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that l, BEN. J. 1Wnivnnitn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hahn, in the county of Vharton and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Grader-Blades, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to blades especially adapted to be used upon road graders and ditchers and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a blade of simple and durable structure with means for supporting the same, the said means also being adapted to have contact with the ground whereby the blade is re strained against endwise movement while in operation.
lith this object in view the device includes an elongated blade which is concaved transversely and provided at its rear side with bearings. Standards are received in the said bearings and the lower ends of standards extend below the lower edge of the blade and are rearwardly disposed and adapted to enter the surface of the ground when the blade is in operation and thereby prevent longitudinal movement of the blade.
In the accompanying drawing Figure l is a rear elevation of the blade;

Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same cut on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1;
Fig. a is a perspective view of an end portion of the same.
The structure includes a blade l which is of usual pattern. The said blade is of greater length than vertical height and the blade is concaved transversely. The blade 1 is provided at its rear side with bearings 2. The said bearings are arranged in pairs and a pair of bearings is located in the vicinity of each end of the blade. rllhe members of the pairs of bearings are in vertical alinement with each other. Standards 3 are received in the bearings The standards are adapted to be connected at their upper portions with the frame of a grader or ditcher in a usual manner. The lower portions of the standards 3 extend below the Specification of Letters Patent.

When the blade is in operation it is pitched at an acute angle with relation to the line of draft of the machine in a usual manner and the lower edge of the blade cuts into the earth or soil as the machine moves in a forward direction and by reason of the configuration and disposition of the blade the loosened earth or soil is moved toward the rear end of the blade and discharged therefrom in a usual manuel'. ln view of the fact that the extremities l are rearwardly disposed and positioned below the lower or cutting edge of the blade l they will enter into the surface of the ground or soil and will prevent the blade l from moving longitudinally while it is in operation.
From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that a blade structure of simple design is provided and that the same may be conveniently used for road or ditch work and that the blade is eifectually held in position against the strains to which it is subjected while in operation.
Having described the invention what is claimed is In combination with an elongated transversely curved blade having bearings at its rear side and in the vicinity of the ends thereof, standards located in the bearings and disposed transversely of the blade and having portions which project beyond the upper and lower edges thereof, the lower extremities of the standards beingxed with relation to the intermediate portions thereof and being rearwardly disposed and having their longitudinal dimensions disposed at acute angles to the longitudinal dimension of the blade, said extremities at the opposite end portions of the blade being parallel with each other, the said lower extremities having relatively sharp lower edges adapted to enter the earth and hold the blade in position thereon.
