To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, OLIVER P. CLEMnNs and WALTER C. Borr, citizens of the United States, residing at Walla Walla, in the county of Walla Walla, State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuspidors; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to cuspidors.

The object-of the invention 18 toprovide a cuspidor having a novel form of support for retaining the cuspidor in operative position and which will permit the cuspidor to be removed when dirty and a new one supplied, thereby obviating the necessity of indulging in the disagreeable operation of cleaning the cuspidor.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved construction of sanitary cuspidors composed of paper whereby the formation and manufacture of same is simplified.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details ofconstruction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing the invention in detail ref erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a cuspidor and cuspidor holder operatively associated and constructed in accordance with the invention;

eferring to the drawings the improved cuspidor holder is shown as comprising a base 10 havinga central dished portion 11 and its edge provided with a bead 12. The

bottom view of the cuspidor reside of the holder is formed from a single length of wire A bent in sinuous formation as shown in Fig. 5 with the bends 13 at the lower end of the side curved inwardly and engaged within the bead 12 after which said bead is clamped or crimped on the bends. The bends at the top of the side are twisted around a ring 14 which completes the formation of the holder.

The cuspidor embodies a top 15,and a body 16 the former of which is constructed of waxed cardboard and the latter of suitable waxed paper. The top 15 is in the form of a ring and is bent intermediately its inner and outer edges so that both the inner and outer portions of the top extend downwardly. The body 16 is formed from a suitable disk of paper shaped to produce a receptacle by folding the outer portion of the disk at intervals and then securing the extreme outer portion to the underside of the ring or top 15. The cuspidor is then applied in the holder as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

What is claimed is As an article of manufacture, a holder for collapsible paper cuspidors consisting of a disk having its margin provided with a downwardly turned hook shaped bead, a ring of greater diameter than the disk spaced above the bead and in axial alinement with thedisk and a sinuous wire comprising upper straight members in a common plane, lower straight members in a common plane and connecting members, the lower strai ht members being inclosed within the hooked bead and the upper straight members being disposed against the ring with the adjacent portions of the connecting members coiled around the ring, said connecting membe'rsbetween the upper and lower straight members being each deflected inwardly in position to touch the straight wall of a cuspidor disposed against the corresponding coiled portion and resting upon the disk within the inclosure of the bead of the latter.
