Rotor-ring to the drawings in detail, my invention comprises a pipe bowl 1 which is of any desired shape and termed of any suitable material and is provided with the usual stem 2. The howl 1, is provided directly above its connection with the stem with a large opening 3 which receives one end of a casing l the casing being secured within the opening by means of metal strips 5 which are secured to one end of the casing at diametrically opposite points. The strips encircle the bowl 1 olfthe pipe and have their free ends secured to each other in any suitable manner whereby the casin will be held securely within. the opening as will he understood. The connection between the free ends of the strips 5 may be so constructed that the strips may be detached from each other to permit the rei'noval of the casing from the opening 3 as will be understood. The opposite end of the casing ii: is provided on its under side with a bracket 6, the lnrackct surrounding the stem 2 whereby the casing will be held securely upon the stem inits relation thereto. The casing l: is of a suitable length and preferably cylindrical in formation, its outer end being closed While the inner end is open and is in direct communication with the bowl of the pipe.

Slidably mounted within the casing t is the tobacco magazine generally indicated as at 7 and which is formed of a plurality of telescopic sections 8, the sections being cylindrical in tor-m and ot' graduating diameters, the smaller section having its free end closed by means of a plunger head 9. The plunger head 9 is of disk formation and is of a diameter slightly than the diameter of the casing whereby the sections will be held in their proper horizontal positions at all times. Secured to the outerface of the plunger head 9 and centrally thereof is an eye 10 through which passes an operating rod 11, the opposite extremities of the operator rod projecting exteriorly of the casing and disposed within the longitudinally extending slots 12 formed at dian'ietrically opposite points within the casing e. The opposite ends of the rod 11 are provided with buttons or heads 13 whereby the accidental removal of the rod will be prevented. in.- terposed between the closed end of the easing l and the plunger head 9 is a coiled sprin 14L which is adapted to engage the plunger head 9 to force the sections into telescopic position, the outward movement of the largermost section being limited by means of diametrically disposed lugs 15' formed on the inner wall of the casing adjacent its inner end. To retain the plunger head in retracted position within the casing 4: when filling the sections of the magazine as Will be hereinafter described, I provide the outer ends of each of the slots 12 with angular offset recesses 16, the recess in one slot being offset in opposite direction to the other slot. It will be seen from this construction that when the rod 11 is moved circumferentially of the casing, the opposite ends of the rod'will move into the re cesses 16 whereby the plunger head '9 will be held in retracted position against the tension of the spring 1 1. It is to be understood that by reversing the movement of the rod 11 the opposite ends thereof will move from the recesses thereby permitting the plunger head 9 to move to extended position.

In practice the sections, 8 of the magazine 7 are filled with tobacco, it being understood that the sections are in extended position and the rod lies within the recesses 16 as has been described. After having filled the magazine 7, the bowl 1 is then. filled whereupon the tobacco within the bowl is lighted. The rod 11 is then removed from the recesses 16 whereby the spring lt will exert its tension to force the plunger head 9 outwardly or toward the bowl 1 and it will thus be seen that as the tobacco burns within the bowl, the tobacco within the magazine will be gradually forced into the bowl thereby replenishing the supply within the bowl and thus eliminating the frequent refilling of the bowl as is usual in the pipes now upon the market. By forming the magazine 7 of the telescopic sections 8, I eliminate any liability of th tobacco becoming clogged within the magazine and thus permitting free movement of the plunger head 9, the opposite ends of the sections contacting with the inner wall of the adjacent section to loosen the tobacco as will be understood.

In this embodiment of my invention I have shown the bowl 1 having its lower end open and in which is removably mounted a stopper 17. The stopper 17 is provided with an upstanding stud 18 upon which is mounted an angularly disposed cleaning member 19, the latter having a portion thereof upturned to conform to the contour of the inner surface of the bowl. It is to be under stood that the stopper 17 is loosely mounted within the lower end of the bowl 1 whereby upon rotation of the stopper, the cleaning member 19 will be caused to engage the inner surface of the bowl and thereby remove moist tobacco which is usually deposited within the lower end of the bowl thus insuring a proper draft within the bowl at all times.

It is thought from the foregoing taken in connection with the accompanying drawings that the construction and operation of my device will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and that minor changes in size, shape, proportion and minor details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

What I claim.

1. In combination with a pipe, a casing communicating with the bowl of the pipe, a magazine mounted within the casing and formed of telescopic sections of graduating diameters, and spring means between the casing and magazine for telescoping the sections of the said magazine.

2. In combination with a pipe, a casing communicating with the bowl of the pipe, a magazine slidably mounted within the casing and comprising telescopic sections, a plunger head secured to the innermost section and of a diameter slightly less than the interior diameter of the casing, a rod secured to said plunger, said casing having slots formed therein at diametrically opposite points therein, the opposite extremities of said rod being disposed within said slots, and a spring interposed between said plunger and the outer end of said casing for forcing the sections into telescopic position.
